Student answer (Band 5.5)

The most effective way to ensure enough homes for the residents in big cities is to build high rise apartment blocks. from my point of view, I strongly agree with this notion because only the high rise apartment can provide enough spaces to live large number of pepole with many more convenience. In this essay i will discuss the logical reason of this approach.

Firstly, tall building dosen't require large space as the traditional home. It is the importtant factor to consider before constructing large apartment in a city center because normally the bustling city lack spaces to build spacious building. Secondly, people who living in a large cities tend to prefer quiete place to live spacefully without facing any maintainance problem. Large building provides opportunity to the city dwellers live with their own space. Thirdly, there is a large number of homes required to ensure all the people who tend to live in a city and there are thousands of people daily come to the city, searching suitable places or homes for long time living in the city. Consequently, it is quite challanging to provide accommodation for all the people who want to live in the city parmanently. Therefore, only vertical building with many more appartment can mitigate this problem because a high rise building contain approximately hundreds of apartment to live in.

In conclusion, in terms of convenience and for ensuring enough spaces for city dwellers vertical building can be the best way. Therefore, government and realstate businessmen should prioritize the vertical building in a city center to ensure the home for all residents.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear from the opening: you strongly support high-rise apartments, and the conclusion returns to this view. You give relevant reasons, including limited land in city centres and the need to house growing urban populations. However, the response addresses the question only partly because the reasons are mostly asserted rather than explained or supported with a specific example. The point that residents prefer a “quiet” place and want to avoid maintenance problems is not clearly connected to why tall blocks are the best way to provide enough homes. Develop fewer points more fully—for example, explain how building upwards increases the number of homes on a limited site, and add a relevant city-based example or comparison with alternatives.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a body paragraph presenting reasons, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” “Thirdly,” and “Consequently” help readers follow the list of points, and the final paragraph clearly restates your position. However, the body reads more like a series of separate claims than a developed line of reasoning. The links between residents’ preference for quiet, maintenance, and the need for more housing are not always clear, and “Therefore” repeats the conclusion of the preceding point without adding a new step. Use a separate paragraph for a main reason, then explain and illustrate it; make references and transitions show how each idea supports your argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “high rise apartment blocks,” “city center,” “accommodation,” and “city dwellers,” so the subject is generally clear. There are also attempts at less common expressions, such as “mitigate this problem” and “vertical building.” However, spelling errors and inaccurate or unnatural word combinations are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause: “pepole,” “importtant,” “maintainance,” and “parmanently” are examples. Phrases such as “provide enough spaces,” “live spacefully,” and “many more appartment” are not natural in this context. Aim for accurate collocations and forms, such as “provide enough housing,” “live comfortably,” and “a large number of apartments,” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a reason clause with “because” and a result introduced by “Consequently.” The overall meaning is usually understandable, but control of sentence structure and basic grammar is inconsistent. For example, “people who living in a large cities” needs a finite verb and correct agreement, while “a high rise building contain” has a singular subject with a plural verb. The opening also begins a new sentence with lowercase “from,” and “In this essay i” has incorrect capitalisation. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence boundaries. Building a few clear complex sentences accurately will strengthen the response more than adding complexity that is not yet controlled.
