Student answer (Band 5.5)

As the population is growing, more and more people are moving towards the large cities for better opportunities and I think building tall apartments is the quite efficient way to cater most of the people.

Firstly, by building the tall apartments you can manage alot of people in one place, rather than providing land to them, which gives extra land an it return it give the shortage of housing.

Secondly, in the big cities the population is quite alot and there is more common culture for the people to in the apartment than to own their own houses.

In mu view people move to the big cities for better opportunities, in terms of education, healthcare and better standard of living, owing a new house in alot to bear, instead living in a apartment gives them sense of belonging and provides them with enough space to start a better life.

On the other hand, giving each and everyone citizen a housing scheme also have very negative affect on the environment, cutting trees to provide the houses and building the housing schemes will have adverse impact on the wildlife and the environment of the city.

So, the tall apartments helps to cater many people it helps to develop the sense the community as many people are living together and shared alot of common spaces .

In conclusion, building tall apartments helps to cater large quantity of people in big cities rather than building individual houses which helps to save spaces for other useful schemes.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you support tall apartment buildings as an efficient way to house people in large cities, and you return to this view in the conclusion. You give relevant reasons, including making better use of land, affordability, shared community spaces, and reducing environmental damage from building separate housing schemes. However, several points are asserted rather than explained. For example, the claim that apartment living creates a “sense of belonging” is not supported with a specific explanation or example, and the comparison with individual houses remains general. To strengthen the response, develop each main reason with a clear cause-and-effect explanation or a relevant example, and make the relationship between affordability and apartment living more precise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has an identifiable structure, with an opening position, supporting points, a counterpoint introduced by “On the other hand,” and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly” and “Secondly” help signal the order of ideas. However, progression between points is not always clear: the paragraph beginning “In mu view” shifts from opportunities to housing costs and belonging without showing how these ideas connect. Some linking is repetitive or mechanical, particularly the repeated use of “helps” and “people,” and the final supporting point largely restates the opening claim. Use clearer paragraphing to group related reasons, and connect each sentence to the previous one through precise references and logical transitions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “population,” “opportunities,” “environment,” “wildlife,” and “community,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. There are also attempts at more specific expressions such as “adverse impact” and “sense of belonging.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, including “cater most of the people,” “common culture,” and “housing scheme.” Spelling and word-form slips such as “alot,” “mu,” and “spaces” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise vocabulary for housing and urban planning, and check that verbs and nouns combine naturally; this will make your arguments clearer and less repetitive.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a reason clause beginning “As the population is growing” and a contrast introduced by “On the other hand.” However, the range is limited, and complex sentences are often faulty. For example, “which gives extra land an it return it give the shortage of housing” has unclear clause structure and verb agreement, while “the tall apartments helps” also has a subject–verb agreement error. Other problems include missing or incorrect articles and forms in “in the apartment” and “each and everyone citizen.” These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a clearly attached supporting clause, then check agreement, articles, and punctuation.
