Student answer (Band 6.0)
In contemporary society, the issue of house shortage is becoming prevalent sparking a considerable debate. Few people believe that build building with more apartments can provide homes. From my perspective, i agree that this will provide shelter to all but partialy disagree with that there is only this best solution.
On the one hand, it is inevitable that build high-rise building will give shelter to all people in small areas because population is growing. In large cities, land is expensive and difficult to find. Moreover, apartments can be build near workplaces, schools and public transport which may reduce time and traffic congestion in crowded cities. For instance, many large cities such as Lahore, apartment blocks provide homes to many students, visitors or job holders.
On the other hand, this issue is profoundly paradoxical. Relying on tall apartments may create several problem. Firstly, high building need proper maintainance, reliable lifts, water supplies and emergency services which may be expensive. Secondly, overcrowding and lack of parks may negatively ramification on resident quality of life. Therefore, the government should consider other solutions also such as developing housing projects, improving public transport. These measures could be provide more option of housing.
To conclude, the issue of tall buildings in large cities is increasing. A balance approach is required. Government alike to ensure that this is an integral element of the social framework, hope so we should find a sustainable solution. Better housing project and improvement in rural areas would be more practical and sustainable approach.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you agree that tall apartment blocks can help, but reject the idea that they are the only or best solution. You address both sides with relevant points, including limited urban land, proximity to workplaces and services, maintenance costs, and reduced access to parks. The Lahore example also helps make the argument concrete. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For example, the benefits of housing projects and improving rural areas are mentioned in the conclusion but are not developed in the body, and the claim that apartments can “provide shelter to all” is broader than the support offered. Explain how alternative measures would add homes and weigh their effectiveness against high-rise construction more directly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your position, two body paragraphs present contrasting considerations, and a conclusion returns to the need for balance. Linking phrases such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “To conclude” make the progression easy to follow. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some flexibility in paragraph development. To make the flow more consistently smooth, avoid formulaic transitions and clarify links between ideas. For instance, “This issue is profoundly paradoxical” does not clearly signal the specific drawbacks that follow, while “These measures” refers to several proposals without explaining how each addresses the housing shortage. Build clearer cause-and-effect connections within paragraphs and make the conclusion follow more directly from the body.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “high-rise building,” “traffic congestion,” “overcrowding,” “reliable lifts,” and “sustainable solution.” These choices show an effort to discuss urban housing beyond basic terms, and the intended meaning is generally clear. Some less common expressions are used inaccurately or do not fit their context, however: “house shortage,” “profoundly paradoxical,” and “negatively ramification” weaken precision. There are also spelling and word-form slips, such as “partialy” and “maintainance.” Aim for natural collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, describe a “housing shortage,” say that overcrowding “can negatively affect residents’ quality of life,” and use “maintenance costs.” This would make your vocabulary more precise and fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “apartments can be build near workplaces, schools and public transport which may reduce time and traffic congestion.” The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur across the response. Examples include “Few people believe that build building,” “high-rise building will give,” and “These measures could be provide,” where verb forms or agreement are incorrect. Articles and sentence construction also need attention, as in “A balance approach is required” and the final sentence, “Government alike to ensure that this is an integral element of the social framework, hope so we should find a sustainable solution.” Practise accurate verb patterns, singular/plural agreement, and complete sentence boundaries while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
