Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is always argued that the best way to provide enough houses in developed cities is to construct tall apartment blocks. Well, I somehow disagree the this statement. There are multiple reasons that a large city must not depend on the apartment blocks.

To where it is concerned that whether a large metropolitan city must rely upon the apartment blocks to construct the houses in that city, it might be usefull forr vertical buildings.

Taller buildings which are made for the purpose of markets or plaza meant to sell someting can use the blocks for constructing them as it can make the time concise during construction rather than building everything from scratch. Buildings accomodating many people might get enough benefit and these apartment blocks can be a great fit for them. but it is not always the case.

On the other hand, tall apartment blocks might have some disadvantages that we should never ignore. Families consisting of elderly people are at a great risk of walking too much to get inside the home. And if the floor is quite many levels up, it might not be a good idea to think of accomodating in such buildings. It can make everyday tasks and everyday travel unnecessarily complex.

We have come to the conclusion, that whether the home should be a tall apartment buliding or a short square building in a city mainly depends on what kind of life we are living comfortably. If our comfort is compromised living in tall apartments, we should never keep it as a confident choice while seeking accomodation in big cities

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You take a position by saying, “I somehow disagree,” and you include relevant points about the needs of older residents and the convenience of accommodating many people in one building. However, the response only partially answers the question because it does not clearly explain whether tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide enough homes, or compare them with practical alternatives. The point about using buildings intended for markets or plazas is difficult to follow and does not establish how this would increase housing supply. The conclusion shifts to personal comfort rather than restating a developed argument. To strengthen your response, explain your degree of disagreement clearly, support each main reason with a specific example, and consider alternatives such as mid-rise housing or building on less densely used land.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and signposts such as “On the other hand” help show a change in direction. However, the overall progression is difficult to follow because the first body paragraph moves from markets and plazas to housing without explaining the connection. The opening of that paragraph, “To where it is concerned that whether,” is also hard to interpret, so the reader cannot readily identify its main point. Some links are mechanical, and the conclusion introduces a contrast between “a tall apartment building” and “a short square building” without developing it earlier. Give each paragraph one clear central idea, arrange supporting explanation and examples in a logical order, and use linking phrases only where they clarify the relationship between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt topic-related vocabulary, including “metropolitan city,” “vertical buildings” and “accommodating many people,” and you use some relevant terms for discussing housing. However, the range is limited and several choices or combinations are inaccurate or unclear, which sometimes makes the argument difficult to understand. For example, “make the time concise” does not naturally express saving time, while “confident choice” is not an appropriate phrase for a housing option. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “usefull,” “someting” and “accomodation.” Aim for precise, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. Using terms such as “housing supply,” “high-rise development” and “accessible housing” would help you express the topic more clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including conditional language in “if the floor is quite many levels up” and a relative clause in “Buildings accommodating many people.” However, complex constructions are often faulty, and frequent errors make some sentences difficult to understand. Examples include “I somehow disagree the this statement,” “whether a large metropolitan city must rely upon…” and “Families consisting of elderly people are at a great risk of walking too much to get inside the home.” The final sentence is also difficult to control, particularly “we should never keep it as a confident choice.” Work on forming direct, complete sentences, checking articles and prepositions, and avoiding long clauses when their structure is uncertain. Accurate simple sentences will make your ideas clearer while you build range.
