Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is often argued that, in the large cities high rise apartment blocks should be made to offer enough homes to the people the living there as it is the best possible way. I strongly agree with this statement because it will help to manage the housing crisis and also provide facilites to the people to get access in the advance system of helathcare, education, lifestyle etc.
Firstly, large cities is the main hub of the countries, where people can come to earn their livelihood. Here, more job options and oppurtunites are available. That's why people come to these cities leaving their home town, and because of that they need to stay here. But the problem is, as lands are not increasing and houses are becoming limited, people are having hard time for finding homes to live. So, building tall apartments will help to ease the hosuing problem.
Secondly, these cities have the advance technologies in the healthcare, education field. In addition, most of the high end brand shops, super shops etc are also present here. Because of that, living here will enhance the lifestyle, and diminish the hassle for travel back and forth. For instances, i am living in the capital city but my family was living in the rural district in the country. Then, suddenly we find out my grandmother was diagnozed with the chronic disease related to kidney. She immediately need dialysis and it need to do every thrice a week.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
Your position is clear: you strongly agree that tall apartment blocks can help address housing shortages, and you give relevant reasons about urban employment and access to healthcare and education. The example about your grandmother’s need for regular dialysis could support the healthcare point, but it ends before explaining how living in the city or building more apartments helped, so the support remains incomplete. The response also does not fully develop why high-rise construction is the best solution compared with alternatives. In addition, the response is 8 words below the required minimum. To strengthen the answer, complete the personal example, explain the benefits and possible limitations of building upwards, and ensure the response meets the task’s length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a sequence of reasons signalled by “Firstly” and “Secondly.” This helps the reader follow the main points. However, the progression is interrupted because the final paragraph stops during the grandmother example, leaving the supporting idea unfinished and the essay without a conclusion. Some links are also mechanical or unclear, such as “Because of that,” which does not precisely show how access to shops and services improves lifestyle. Develop each paragraph through a clear point, explanation, and completed example, then add a brief concluding paragraph that restates your position. This would make the overall progression more complete and the connections between ideas clearer.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “housing crisis,” “job options,” “high rise apartment blocks,” and “chronic disease,” which makes your subject clear. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “livelihood” and “dialysis.” However, spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural combinations are noticeable, including “facilites,” “advance technologies,” and “ease the hosuing problem.” Repetition of general words such as “cities,” “people,” and “help” limits the range and precision. Aim to check spelling carefully and choose natural collocations—for example, “advanced medical facilities” rather than “advance technologies in the healthcare.” More precise vocabulary would help express your ideas without changing their meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a reason clause beginning “because” and a relative clause in “where people can come to earn their livelihood.” However, errors occur frequently and sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. For example, “large cities is” has subject–verb disagreement, while “people the living there” has an incorrect clause structure. In “my grandmother was living,” the tense is awkward for the intended background, and “She immediately need dialysis” has an incorrect verb form. The final sentence, “it need to do every thrice a week,” also has faulty structure. Practise accurate agreement, verb forms, and sentence construction, and proofread each sentence for a complete, clear grammatical pattern.
