Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is often argued that, in the large cities high rise apartment blocks should be made to offer enough homes to the people the living there as it is the best possible way. I strongly agree with this statement because it will help to manage the housing crisis and also provide facilites to the people to get access in the advance system of helathcare, education, lifestyle etc.

Firstly, large cities is the main hub of the countries, where people can come to earn their livelihood. Here, more job options and oppurtunites are available. That's why people come to these cities leaving their home town, and because of that they need to stay here. But the problem is, as lands are not increasing and houses are becoming limited, people are having hard time for finding homes to live. Therefore, building tall apartments will help to ease the hosuing problem.

Secondly, these cities have the advance technologies in the healthcare, education field. In addition, most of the high end brand shops, super shops etc are also present here. Because of that, living here will enhance the lifestyle, and diminish the hassle for travel back and forth. For instances, i am living in the capital city but my family was living in the rural district in the country. Then, suddenly we find out that my grandmother was diagnozed with the chronic disease related to kidney. She immediately need dialysis and it needs to do every thrice a week. But there was no facilites in the place they were living. After that, i left my studio apartment and got a house with more rooms in a apartment block. In that way, my family shifted here and right now we are getting access to all the treatments for grandmother that she needs for her health wellbeing, without bearing the hassles for travellling such a long distance. Thus, get the house to live in the large cities open the door for unlocks all the facilties.

To conclude that, i absolutely support the idea for building tall premices that will provide enough homes to the people wanting to live here and get the opportunity to enjoy best facilites.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction and conclusion: you strongly support tall apartment blocks, and you give relevant reasons about housing demand and access to city services. The personal example about your grandmother’s dialysis also makes the benefits of living near healthcare concrete. However, the response focuses more on why people want to live in cities than on why building upwards is the best way to provide enough homes. The housing point is stated but not developed with details such as how high-rise construction increases capacity or uses scarce land efficiently. The second reason also shifts towards lifestyle and services, so the argument about housing provision is less fully addressed. Develop these links and consider a limitation or comparison with alternatives.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs signposted with “Firstly” and “Secondly,” and a conclusion. The ideas generally progress from urban employment and housing demand to access to services, and the personal example supports the second paragraph. Some connections, however, are mechanical or unclear. For example, “Because of that” is repeated, and “Thus, get the house to live in the large cities…” does not clearly follow from the example or express a complete relationship. The long example also takes up much of the second body paragraph, leaving the central point about tall buildings less prominent. Use more precise referencing and transitions, and organise each paragraph around one clearly stated claim followed by explanation and evidence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “housing crisis,” “job options,” “chronic disease,” and “dialysis,” and the personal example shows an attempt to use specific terms. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable and sometimes make phrases difficult to interpret, such as “advance system,” “facilites,” “hosuing,” and “unlock all the facilties.” Some collocations are also unnatural: “get access in” and “hassle for travel back and forth” do not express the intended meaning naturally. There is some repetition of general words such as “cities,” “people,” and “facilities.” Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations for housing, urban development, and access to services; this will make your ideas more precise and fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “because,” “where,” and “that,” and most of the argument remains understandable. Some grammatical errors persist, particularly with agreement, articles, and verb forms. For example, “large cities is” should be “large cities are,” while “people the living there” needs a corrected relative clause, such as “people living there.” In the example, “She immediately need dialysis” should use a past-tense form, and “it needs to do” requires a passive construction. Sentence boundaries and punctuation also need attention, especially in “Thus, get the house…” and the conclusion’s opening. Review agreement and tense consistency, and proofread longer sentences to ensure each clause is complete and correctly connected.
