Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You take a position in favour of tall apartment buildings and give relevant points: they can house many people on limited land, while high-density living may put pressure on schools, hospitals and roads. However, the response addresses the question only partially. The advantages are not explained with a specific example, and the disadvantages are introduced but left unfinished: “The reason is old people have some kind of” does not complete the idea. The conclusion and a clear overall judgement about whether this is the best way to provide homes are also missing. The response is 85 words below the required minimum, which leaves too little space to develop and support your arguments. Explain both sides fully and state your position consistently.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening paragraph introduces the topic, followed by a paragraph on advantages and one beginning with “On the other hand” for disadvantages. This gives the reader some sense of direction. However, the progression is incomplete because the final paragraph stops mid-sentence, and there is no concluding paragraph to bring the argument together. Some links are also awkward or unclear: “Although” does not correctly connect the point about moving to a large city, and “Additional” is not an effective transition here. Develop each paragraph around one complete main idea, use linking expressions accurately, and add a conclusion that restates your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “land,” “facilities,” “cities,” and “disadvantages,” so the reader can identify the subject of your argument. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning less clear. For example, “long heighted buildings” and “high-rising building” are not natural ways to describe apartment blocks, while “roads blockage” is an awkward phrase. There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “requried,” “individ iuals,” “oppurtunity,” and “serveral.” Build a more accurate set of phrases for housing and urban density, and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple sentences and a more complex structure, such as “Although, moving in a large city can provide the best oppurtunity…”. However, the range is limited, and errors in sentence construction and agreement occur frequently enough to make parts difficult to follow. Examples include “the numbers of people are increasing,” “tall building apartment block are,” and “can provides”; these show problems with number agreement and verb forms. The sentence beginning “if too many people are living…” also needs clearer punctuation and a complete, well-formed main clause. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles and plural forms, then build longer sentences from a correct basic structure.
