Student answer (Band 5.5)
Building story apartments in a way of increasing homes in big cities. I totally agree with statement because tall apartment provide more space for other blocks and one building can accomodate more people than a single flat can.
One key reason of constructing tall building in surburbs is that it creates space for more buildings. This because such homes are verticaly built, this means that they will be more land to build tall apartments. For example, building such a sizable land leaves room for another building similar. This further strengthens the reason.
Another reason is that these buildings have many apartment readily availabe. This is because a tall building can have many apartments on each floor which further increases the number of homes for people to rent. For instance, an 8 story building can have about 4 to 5 apartment on each floor, which is about 32 to 40 apartments per floor, hence providing numerous homes to people living in the city. In addition, tall apartment building are an attraction and big in size, thus one can accomodate 2 to 3 people.
In conclusion, to create enough homes for people living in the urban area, it is good to construct building that favour the environment, such as building vertical homes that can accomodate many individuals. I agree with this because cities have large populations and the only way to ensure all are accomodated is by these buildings.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You take a clear position by stating, “I totally agree,” and give two relevant reasons: tall buildings use land vertically and provide many apartments. The example of an eight-storey building helps illustrate the second point. However, the ideas are only partly developed: the claim that vertical construction “creates space for more buildings” is not clearly explained, and the discussion does not consider whether tall blocks are the best way to provide homes compared with alternatives. The conclusion repeats your position rather than adding a developed final insight. The response is also 13 words below the required minimum, so there is limited space to explain and support your points. Develop each reason with a clearer explanation and a specific, relevant example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion. Paragraphing makes the main points easy to locate, and signposts such as “Another reason,” “For instance,” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. However, some links are mechanical or unclear. For example, “This further strengthens the reason” does not specify what the preceding example proves, while repeated “This is because” constructions make the progression feel formulaic. The example about the number of apartments also ends with a confusing calculation (“32 to 40 apartments per floor”). To improve, make the relationship between each claim, explanation, and example explicit, and use referencing that clearly identifies the idea being discussed.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main argument, including “urban area,” “vertical,” “apartment,” and “populations.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make parts of the response less clear. Phrases such as “Building story apartments in a way of increasing homes” and “a sizable land” are not natural expressions, and “apartment” is repeated frequently. There are also spelling errors in “accomodate,” “surburbs,” “verticaly,” and “availabe.” Aim to learn common housing collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise terms such as “high-rise residential buildings,” “housing capacity,” and “land-efficient development” would help express your ideas more clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a reason clause beginning “because” and a relative clause in “a tall building can have many apartments on each floor.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. The opening sentence is a fragment, and “This because such homes are verticaly built” is missing a verb. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and plurals, as in “tall apartment provide,” “4 to 5 apartment,” and “tall apartment building are.” The sentence about “32 to 40 apartments per floor” is grammatically understandable but structurally confusing. Practise complete sentence patterns and check subject–verb agreement, articles, and plural forms.
