Student answer (Band 5.0)

The given statement depicts that whether the providence of considerable amount of homes in enormous cities by building tall apartment blocks is an excellent way or not? I am not in the right of building apartments. I would support my opinion with some reasons which are as follows;

I am not absolutely disagreeing with this point of view as this concept usually provides a best way to carry a massive population in lesser space by making large multi-layered buildings. But if we talk about all the other perspectives of life lying ahead will become a little difficult to cope up with them. For Instance; drying clothes after washing, cleaning floors from water etc.

Among this, suppose if a family lives on the top floor of the building after that there it would create a rather hardship for the old people in climbing that much number of stairs. It would not wrong to say that the major problem of living in apartments is to climb large number of stairs such as whenever anyone has washed their clothes, they have to go at roof manually if elevator or any other lifting system is not installed.

Here I want to share my life experience. During my Internship, I went to another city to complete my course and started to live in a apartment. There I have got numerous problems and I would consider the heavy noise from adjacent apartments and climbing stairs like hell were remain the biggest life-threat for me.

In conclusion, I would say that everyone has it's own loved experiences but i think the best solution to provide support to large cities is to make little houses with every facility available in it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a recognisable opinion: you are not fully opposed to apartment blocks, but prefer smaller houses. You also offer relevant points about space, stairs, older residents and noise, including a personal example. However, the position is not consistently clear: “I am not in the right of building apartments” conflicts with “I am not absolutely disagreeing,” and the conclusion does not explain how smaller houses could provide enough homes in a large city. Several points, such as drying clothes and noise, are mentioned but not developed with clear explanation or evidence. To strengthen the response, state your degree of agreement directly, compare the benefits and drawbacks of high-rise housing, and explain why your preferred alternative would meet the city’s housing needs.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic essay shape, with an introduction, supporting paragraphs and a conclusion, and the personal experience gives one paragraph a clear focus. Some progression is visible from the space-saving benefit to practical difficulties. However, links between ideas are often unclear or mechanical: “Among this” and “after that” do not clearly show how the next point follows, while the first body paragraph combines general drawbacks with the example of older residents. The introduction also previews reasons without establishing a precise position. Use one main idea per paragraph, connect each example explicitly to that idea, and use simpler, accurate transitions such as “However,” “For example,” and “As a result.”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “multi-layered buildings,” “adjacent apartments” and “population,” and the reader can generally identify your subject. However, the range is limited by repeated or imprecise expressions, and several word choices or collocations make meaning difficult to follow. For example, “providence of considerable amount of homes” and “carry a massive population” are not natural ways to describe housing provision, while “life-threat” does not fit the problem of noise or stairs. Aim for clear, conventional phrasing before using more elaborate vocabulary. Learning collocations such as “provide housing,” “accommodate residents” and “pose a challenge” would make your argument more precise and easier to read.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including a conditional idea about older residents and a sentence describing your internship experience. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors in articles, agreement, verb forms and sentence construction sometimes make the reader work to understand your meaning. Examples include “a best way,” “It would not wrong to say,” and “were remain the biggest.” Some sentences also run together or use punctuation in ways that obscure the relationship between clauses. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a clearly connected supporting clause, then check articles, subject–verb agreement and past-tense forms. Greater control of these basics will make your ideas clearer.
