Student answer (Band 5.0)
Yes, i do agree with the statment "the best way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks". because large cities are having massive flow of people like the people come from different places to settle in the larger cities to get the better oppurtunities and also good life style. Then the people wants to stay in their houses that are rented or their own depending on their situations if the each person wants to have their house individually like their own places then the cities dont have the enouogh space to the new people and also for public development but when it comes to the apartment around 25-50 families can stay at the same place by building their homes one by one depending on the site and development and also their financial conditions.
for example, one family has 5 acres of land and the sibilings are 10 people if each person wants to build a house in that 5 acres of land then its impossible and also they can have the the conflicts and land disputes. if we build an apartment with 10 floors in that 5 acres of land then it can be shared for the 10 people in the family equally without and land disputes.
so i would like to recommend to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks for the development so that we can develop the cities and encourage new people to get the good oportunities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You state a clear position in favour of tall apartment blocks and give relevant reasons, including population growth, limited urban space and the possibility of accommodating several households on one site. The example about ten siblings sharing a ten-floor building also supports your view, although it focuses on a family land dispute rather than directly demonstrating how cities can house more residents. The response addresses the question only partially because the reasons are brief and some claims, such as apartments being the best solution, are not sufficiently explained or compared with alternatives. The response contains 223 words, so it is 27 words below the 250-word minimum; this limits the space available to develop your argument. Extend your explanation with specific urban examples and fuller support.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is a basic overall structure: you introduce your agreement, provide a reason and an example, then restate your recommendation. The example is relevant to the central idea of using land efficiently. However, most of the response is presented in one long opening paragraph, followed by a short example and conclusion, so the progression between distinct points is not clearly signposted. Linking words such as “because,” “then,” and “also” are repeated, and the long opening sentence combines several ideas without clear boundaries. Use separate paragraphs for your position, each main reason, and the conclusion. Add more precise links, such as “Furthermore” or “For instance,” and make clear what each pronoun refers to.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “apartment blocks,” “public development,” “financial conditions,” and “land disputes,” which helps communicate your main argument. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “people,” “house,” and “build.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “statment,” “oppurtunities,” “enouogh,” and “sibilings,” as well as awkward word choices such as “massive flow of people” and “good life style.” These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the general point, but they reduce precision and sometimes make the phrasing difficult to follow. Practise accurate spelling and use more natural collocations for urban growth, housing demand and land use.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences, for example when explaining that people move to cities for opportunities and that apartments can accommodate multiple families. However, these complex sentences are often faulty or difficult to follow, and the response relies heavily on simple patterns joined together. Errors include “the people wants,” “cities dont have the enouogh space,” and “if each person wants … then its impossible,” where agreement, sentence construction and punctuation need attention. The opening “Yes, i do agree … because” is also not a complete, well-punctuated sentence. Use full stops to separate ideas, check subject–verb agreement, and practise combining clauses accurately. Greater control of basic sentence forms would make your reasoning clearer.
