Student answer (Band 6.0)
The efficient way to live in a city is by building tall apartment blocks and large buildings with huge number of floors. This will reduce the number of people who are spread unevenly across the city. I strongly agree with this as it is a good approach specially in cities. There are lot of people who come from different areas in a city to live and they occupy a lot of area for a single house. A tall building with huge number of rooms and apartments can carry thousands of people in small amount of area reducing population density problem.
There should be more skyscrapers and apartment buildings as there will be more space for more people and the land use will be more productive. It will make it much easier for the authorities and organizations to provide supplies and facilities to more individuals as there are more people living in a same place. For Instance, authorities can easily supply electricity to one place as compared to people spread over a huge area.
There will be less pollution of air and the water as more people live in a single place. Building huge apartment buildings will also make it easy for people to live in a city as there will be more room available for them. Large apartment blocks also enhances the relations and helps people to know each other much better than before as they are more close to each other.
Overall, in large cities I think the large apartments blocks and buildings should be encouraged to build as they are the best way to live. It makes our life much easier and more productive.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the start: you strongly agree that tall apartment blocks are an effective way to house people in large cities, and you return to this view in the conclusion. You give relevant reasons, including using land more productively and making services such as electricity easier to provide. However, some points are asserted rather than explained. For example, the claim that high-rise living will reduce air and water pollution needs a clearer link to how this happens, and the point about improving relationships between residents would benefit from a specific explanation or example. Develop these ideas with concrete support and acknowledge a relevant limitation, such as pressure on shared facilities, to make the argument more fully considered.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your position, the following paragraphs present supporting reasons, and the final paragraph restates your view. Ideas are generally easy to follow, and linking expressions such as “For instance” and “Overall” help signal examples and the conclusion. However, progression within the body paragraphs is sometimes loose: the discussion moves from land use and service provision to pollution and social relationships without clearly showing how each point connects to the main argument. Some links are also repetitive, particularly the repeated use of “There will be” and “as.” Group related points more deliberately and use clearer references between sentences so the essay feels less like a list of benefits.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “skyscrapers,” “land use,” “population density,” and “authorities.” These choices show an attempt to discuss urban housing beyond very basic terms. However, some wording is repetitive or imprecise, such as “huge number of floors,” “more space for more people,” and “large apartments blocks.” There are also awkward collocations, including “carry thousands of people” and “in a same place,” which make parts of the response sound less natural. Build a more precise range for discussing housing capacity, infrastructure, and environmental effects, and check that nouns and modifiers combine idiomatically. This would make your argument clearer and more fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple sentences and longer structures, including a relative clause in “as more people live in a single place” and a comparison with “as compared to people spread over a huge area.” Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “There are lot of people” needs an article, “a tall building … can carry” has an unsuitable verb pattern, and “Large apartment blocks also enhances” has a subject–verb agreement error. Articles and plurals are also inconsistent in phrases such as “in a same place” and “the large apartments blocks.” Review these patterns and vary your sentence structures more accurately, especially when combining reasons and examples.
