Student answer (Band 5.0)

In this fast growing world, it is important to have a good amount of space to live in. In such ways one of the way to live to have homes in apartments. I agree to this point to some extend, I will provide my points in detail below.

First argument is that people who are living in metropolitan cities like to live in apartments, because they might not afford to buy land and construct an independent house because of the inflation of the prices and taxes imposed on big cities. Second argument is that, most of the people would like to live in the main parts of the city where they opt to live in apartments. Mostly, society are attracting for the advertisements given by the builders according to famous researchers in the India, United Kingdom and Australia. Third argument is that most of them want to live in a society driven places live apartments.

Furthermore, there are some points that I disagree about the information provided, because interactions between humans can be reduced. They will not provide enough place to do physical activities like walking or yoga to maintain physical health. If there are many apartment block constructed side by side, their will be no place for air circulation nor apartments which are built in between will not get enough sunlight. Most important things is that people who are living in the apartments will not have enough awareness about the safety measures.

At the end, it is left to the people choice to choose the place of living. Moreover, one of the easy way to find a place to live in large cities are apartments.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a partly clear position: you agree to some extent, then present reasons both for and against apartment blocks. The points about affordability and access to central areas are relevant, as are concerns about reduced interaction, limited space for exercise, sunlight and safety. However, the response does not fully explain why tall blocks are the best way to provide enough homes, and several claims remain general. For example, the reference to advertisements and researchers in three countries is unclear and does not support a specific argument. Develop fewer points with explanation or a concrete example, and make your final position more decisive by weighing the benefits against the drawbacks.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, a paragraph supporting apartments, a paragraph presenting disadvantages, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “First argument,” “Furthermore,” and “At the end” help signal movement between sections. However, progression within the supporting paragraph is uneven: the point about builders’ advertisements is difficult to connect to the claim about housing supply, and the three arguments are listed rather than developed. Some linking is mechanical, and references such as “this point” and “the information provided” are not precise. Organise each body paragraph around one main idea, explain it, and use clearer links between the claim and its support.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “metropolitan cities,” “inflation,” “air circulation,” and “physical activities,” which helps communicate the subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are noticeably awkward, sometimes making the meaning less clear. For instance, “a good amount of space to live in,” “society driven places,” and “society are attracting for the advertisements” do not express the intended ideas naturally. There are also spelling or form errors such as “extend” for “extent” and “their” where “there” is needed. Build a more precise vocabulary for housing density, affordability, amenities and urban planning, and check collocations in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses with “because” and “where,” but the range is limited and complex constructions are often faulty. Errors occur frequently in agreement, articles, plurals and sentence structure. Examples include “one of the way,” “society are attracting,” and “most important things is”; the sentence beginning “If there are many apartment block constructed” also has problems with plural forms and verb construction. These errors sometimes make the reader pause, although the overall meaning is usually recoverable. Practise accurate basic sentence patterns first, then build longer sentences with one clear main clause and correctly formed supporting clauses.
