Student answer (Band 5.0)
I agree that its best to build tall apartments blocks in big cities to provide enough homes.
One of the biggest reason to build apartments blocks in large cities is that the apartment would disclose less area of land rather than houses and since they are build tall, they has a large amount of floors like 10 floors starting from ground or even some apartments have basements as well. so it is pretty big that each floor would have like four to six dorms or romms which can keepp a large amount of people and when there are more apartments than houses, it covers less area with more amount of people than in houses. In my hometown, here we have apartments and houses as well but there is around five to six family members in house. Wheras, in an apartment there is same amount of people in one apartment.
meanwhile, the other big reason to build tall apartment blocks is to provide enough homes to people with a reasonable cost so that every family in the city could afford to live a good life and dont have to face hardship in order to make their livings.
Tall apartments blocks are one of the best ways to cover more homes than building each house for each family as apartments are more convinient and reasonable at costs of buying. Each apartment is going to be built till the tenth floor and each floor would be providing least four homes. So the best ways to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
Your position is clear from the opening: you agree that tall apartment blocks can provide homes in large cities. You give relevant reasons, especially that apartments use less land and accommodate more residents, and you include a comparison with housing in your hometown. However, the response addresses the issue only partially because the ideas are repeated rather than fully explained. The claim that apartments are affordable is introduced but not supported with an example or explanation of how building height reduces costs. The hometown comparison also needs clearer detail to show the difference in capacity. Develop each reason with a specific explanation or example, and briefly acknowledge any limitation of high-rise housing to make the argument more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a recognisable sequence: it states your view, gives reasons, and ends by restating the position. Phrases such as “One of the biggest reason” and “meanwhile” signal movement between points. However, the first main point is crowded into one long paragraph and sentence, making the relationship between land use, floor numbers, and household capacity difficult to follow. The affordability point is also brief, while the conclusion repeats earlier claims rather than drawing them together. Use separate paragraphs for each reason, and organise each around a clear topic sentence followed by explanation and an example. Check linking words carefully: “meanwhile” does not clearly express the relationship between your two supporting reasons.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “tall apartment blocks,” “large cities,” “floors,” and “afford.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make the writing less clear or natural. For example, “disclose less area of land” does not express the intended idea, and “dorms or romms” is inaccurate for homes in an apartment building. “Reasonable at costs of buying” is also an awkward phrase. Aim to use precise housing and urban-planning vocabulary, and check spelling and collocations. Replacing repeated references to “homes” and “apartments” with accurate alternatives can also make the argument more varied.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to connect ideas using longer sentences and clauses, for example when explaining that apartments use less land because they are built tall. However, these complex sentences are often faulty, and errors sometimes make the reader work to understand the meaning. Examples include “the apartment would disclose,” “they has a large amount of floors,” and “each floor would have like four to six,” where verb forms, agreement, and sentence construction need attention. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, particularly after full stops and at the start of sentences. Practise building shorter, accurate sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses using “because,” “while,” or “which.”
