Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is often highly debated that the most effiicient way in order to provide enough homes to people in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks and I am strongly in favour of it. Further more I think indeed it is the best and most flexible way to provide people with homes.

The primary reason why i think it is a good inciative is because it is the most environment friendly way which can also provide our required needs. It is environment friendly in the sense that it takes little space in a whole of area but also fulfill the needs. For instance some one needs five rooms so he can build one over one which will ultimately shape in tall apartment blocks. There will also be less wood cutting and more place to grow plants so any thing which is benefitical to the environment.

The secondary reason why i am in agreement to large building blocks is because they can unite people in a less spacious places but thay can also live comfortable life. In adition to this it can also go on to demonstrate culture and unity and beside that it also leaves a lot of place for other social activities. For example if there are five families who have suppose five hundred acers of land they can build homes for themselves in just the hundred acers by making it in large aparment block and they can have all other four hundred acers for other social acctivities like parks, playgrounds and schools. These kind of things can turn out to be benefitical for them and the country as well. To sum al in this can illustrate culture unity and intellegence.

While there are indeed strong arguments against this bold take but i strongly agree with it because of some factors like both environment and economy friendly.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: you strongly support tall apartment blocks, and the conclusion repeats this view. You give two relevant reasons—using less land and leaving space for shared facilities—and illustrate the second with the example of families building on part of their land. However, the response only partially develops the argument. The first example about one person needing five rooms does not clearly explain how apartment blocks provide enough homes across a city, and the environmental and economic benefits are asserted rather than explained. The conclusion also introduces “economy friendly” without developing that point. To strengthen the response, explain how high-rise housing increases the number of homes per area and support each main reason with a specific, clearly connected example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a concluding paragraph. The two main reasons are separated, and signposts such as “The primary reason” and “The secondary reason” help readers follow the intended organisation. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the example about five rooms shifts from an individual building upwards to apartment blocks without explaining the connection. Several linking phrases, including “In addition to this,” “beside that” and “To sum al in,” are awkward or repetitive, and the final paragraph begins with a contrast but does not present an opposing argument. Use clearer topic sentences, connect each example directly to its claim, and make the conclusion summarise the reasons rather than introduce a new one.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “environment friendly,” “apartment blocks,” “social activities” and “playgrounds,” so the reader can understand your main ideas. However, the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, which makes parts of the argument difficult to interpret. For example, “a whole of area,” “large building blocks” and “demonstrate culture and unity” do not express the intended ideas precisely. Spelling errors such as “effiicient,” “inciative,” “benefitical” and “intellegence” are also noticeable. Build a more precise set of topic phrases and check spelling and collocations; for instance, describe housing as “high-density” and say that it “preserves land for public amenities.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, using clauses such as “because they can unite people” and “if there are five families.” This shows an effort to express reasons and examples, but the range is limited and complex sentences are often not controlled accurately. In “it takes little space in a whole of area but also fulfill the needs,” the verb does not agree with its subject, and the sentence lacks a clear parallel structure. Other examples include “they can build homes … by making it in large apartment block,” where pronoun reference and number are unclear, and “While there are indeed strong arguments against this bold take but,” where the clause structure is faulty. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles and plural forms, and construct contrast clauses without adding “but” after “while.”
