Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is good to construct tall building apartment in big cities. I truly agreed on this to build long storey buildings in the town.

As I agreed with this because if we live in place where people comes together and stay with us in one building so we can meet and greet daily routine. If we need some help we can easily reach them. Where as if we live far from houses and apartments, we do not get any help if we need. For example, if one family was leaving in the area where nobody come usually if something happen we can not get possible treatment on time. When if we stay in large city also in that in one building first is we get instant assistant for any medical or any thing we need.

Somewhere it is also good that we have our own 1-2 levels of house because some people do not want to stay in crowded place. As they want silent and clam atmosphere so they live in their own space. The tall building in the city is beside represent the wealth of the city however if cities has aviation facility so they have some drawback is addition to maintain level of height of the building.

To conclude that, long levels of construction might be great to adjust population of the city, as they can get shelter and land occupancy was less. Where 2 to 3 families were live, in that space if we build tall apartment they can easily live up to 10 to 15 families as per land.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear in the opening: you agree that tall apartment buildings are useful in large cities, and the conclusion returns to their capacity to house more families on less land. The point about residents being able to help one another is relevant, but it is not clearly connected to why high-rise construction is the best way to provide homes. You briefly acknowledge that some people prefer quieter, private houses and mention aviation-related drawbacks, yet neither point is explained enough to balance your argument. To strengthen the response, focus on housing supply and compare high-rise blocks with alternatives, then develop each reason with a clear explanation or specific example. This would address the question more fully and make your position better supported.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an opening, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The final paragraph also returns to the central idea of accommodating more people on less land. However, progression within the body paragraphs is uneven: the first moves from neighbourly help to medical assistance without clearly linking these points to the housing question, while the second shifts from personal preference to city wealth and aviation. Connect each paragraph to one main argument and explain the relationship between its sentences. Some linking expressions, such as “Where as” and “When if,” are inaccurate or make the logic difficult to follow. Clear topic sentences and more precise transitions would make the organisation easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “tall building,” “crowded,” “population,” “shelter” and “land occupancy,” so the reader can identify the general subject. However, the range is limited, and several word choices or combinations are unnatural or unclear, such as “long storey buildings,” “instant assistant” and “maintain level of height.” These choices sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to understand. Aim for precise housing and urban-planning terms, and check whether words naturally combine in English. For example, describe buildings as “high-rise apartment blocks” and explain that they “increase housing capacity” or “use land more efficiently.” This would make your argument clearer and more appropriate to the task.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with clauses, for example, “As I agreed with this because if we live…” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction can make the meaning hard to follow. Examples include “people comes together,” “cities has,” and “Where 2 to 3 families were live.” Some sentences also combine several ideas without clear grammatical boundaries, as in the example about a family living where nobody comes. Practise building accurate short sentences first, then join related ideas using one clear subordinate clause. Check subject–verb agreement and past or present forms, and use full stops to separate complete thoughts.
