Student answer (Band 6.0)

Due to rapid increase of population in many countries, the state often considers constructing multi level buildings to fecilitate accomodation to citizens. Although many individuals may disagree with this idea, I however, stand in favour of it and the reasons for that are discused further in the essay.

Making tall apartments demands heavy financial support due to which many people dont want that to be done and believes that the economy can be invested in other walefar niches, Amsterdam for instance, is a city in netherlands where citizens and goverment both refused the proposal to construct new skylines which will bring space for many individuals and businesses, the reason of not accepting that was that it needs a lot of economical support from the higer authorities which can be used in other facilities like fostering public transportation. That resulted and in housing crisies in that city which is now sufferd by many immigrents.

Cities which supports the idea of turning old houses into huge buildings often makes that decision with the expection of getting enough accomodation serveces to locals and immigrants which can help the nation in making finances in future. Another reason to support that is that more buildings may attract travellers accross the globe encouraging the nations tourism, Manhatten being the best example, is a city in America which contais tall apartments and skycrapers making it a city where millions of people can live as well as a facinating city for travellers and students which makes it strong economy.

To conclude, the idea of making tall apartments may not be sound for some people as it huge investment, in my perspective, however, is a helpful idea.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you support tall apartment blocks, and the essay gives relevant reasons, including increased housing capacity and possible benefits to tourism and the economy. The Manhattan example helps illustrate how high-rise development can accommodate residents and attract visitors. However, the first body paragraph focuses largely on the cost of construction and Amsterdam’s refusal of a proposal, so the link between this example and your support for building tall blocks is not fully clear. The economic and tourism benefits in the second paragraph are also asserted more than explained. To strengthen the response, explain more directly how high-rise housing provides homes efficiently and develop each example with a clear connection to your argument.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the ideas generally progress from objections about cost to reasons for supporting high-rise housing. Linking phrases such as “Another reason” and “To conclude” help signal this organisation. However, some connections are difficult to follow: the Amsterdam example describes opposition to construction, but its relevance to your stated position is not made explicit. Several sentences also contain many ideas joined together, which weakens the progression within paragraphs. Use clearer topic sentences and divide long sentences so that each example and its explanation are easy to track. More precise referencing would also help readers see how each point supports your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “multi level buildings,” “housing crises,” “public transportation,” “skyscrapers” and “accommodation.” This gives you enough language to discuss urban housing and its possible economic effects. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word choices are noticeable, for example “fecilitate,” “walefar niches,” “expection” and “facinating.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “making finances” and “enough accomodation serveces.” These inaccuracies sometimes make the intended meaning less immediate. Work on checking spelling and learning common collocations as complete phrases, such as “provide housing,” “generate revenue” and “support public services.” This would make your vocabulary more precise and natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses beginning with “Although” and “which,” and your overall meaning is usually understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with subject–verb agreement and sentence construction. For example, “many people … believes” should use a plural verb, while “Cities which supports” and “often makes” also need plural agreement. The opening “Although …, I however” uses overlapping contrast markers, and the final sentence has an unclear structure around “in my perspective.” Long sentences with several clauses make these issues harder to control. Aim for a mix of complex and shorter sentences, check agreement carefully, and punctuate examples so that the main clause remains clear.
