Student answer (Band 4.5)
I completely disagree because i prefer small and peaceful home than big home in city area. because peace is everything that we all need. and the statement is practically right according to have numbers of homes. but tall apartment in large cities leads to global warming the area where the construction will carried out we can have less numbers of home as compare to homes/flats in tall apartment. cutting down the trees are the main cause of global warming, as i love nature, for me home at hilly area will be the only choice, rather than a apartment in tall building. as one of my cousin lives in apartment and my other cousin lives in village area his village is near to valley area. in april i visited to my cousin apartment the temeprature is high than the tempreature of co

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You state a clear disagreement at the start and introduce relevant concerns, including the effect of construction on trees and your preference for a quieter setting. However, the response addresses the question only minimally: it does not explain in a developed way whether tall blocks can provide enough homes, or compare this approach with alternatives. The claim that fewer homes can be provided in tall apartments is unclear and needs explanation or evidence. The family examples begin to support your preference, but the final comparison is unfinished. The response is also 109 words below the required minimum, leaving too little space to develop reasons and examples. Build each main point with a clear explanation and a complete, relevant example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
There is a basic line of thought: you give your position, mention environmental concerns, and begin a personal comparison. However, the ideas are not arranged into clear paragraphs, and the response moves abruptly from peace to housing numbers, global warming, and your cousins. Connect each point to the question and organise the essay into an introduction, developed body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Linking words such as “because” and “as” are attempted, but several sentence fragments beginning with “because” or “and” make the relationships between ideas difficult to follow. The final sentence stops mid-comparison, so the progression is incomplete. Clear paragraphing and complete transitions would make your argument easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “apartment,” “construction,” “global warming,” and “cutting down the trees,” so the reader can identify your main concerns. However, the range is limited and several phrases are imprecise or repetitive, which sometimes makes the intended meaning difficult to understand. For example, “less numbers of home” does not clearly express your comparison, and “home at hilly area” is not a natural way to describe your preferred location. There are also spelling errors such as “temeprature” and “tempreature.” Aim for accurate topic-specific phrases and check spelling; the suggestions below offer more natural alternatives.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts to connect ideas using clauses, as in “as i love nature,” and includes a comparison between two relatives’ homes. However, sentence structures are very limited, and frequent errors in sentence boundaries, articles, agreement, and verb forms make parts difficult to follow. For example, “because peace is everything that we all need” is a fragment, while “the construction will carried out” lacks the correct passive verb form. “A apartment” also has an incorrect article, and the final sentence is incomplete. Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check articles and verb forms. Using a few accurate complex sentences would improve control without sacrificing clarity.
