Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is often argued that, many people think that build tall buildings is the best aproch to provide enough homes. while, other believe that make proper planning and also make small towns around the large cities is cruical to meet the high demand of houses in large cities. I strongly agree with that, making vertical buildings is the vital for providing accomodation in future.
The primary reason why i support that because build tall buildings on small piece of land speciely in large cities land is very expansive so making appartments in vertical buildings is cheaper as compared to houses with garden.
2nd reason is that build appartments is easy to manage and operate like single security gaurd is enough for whole building contaning more than 100 houses.
For example in large cities like Dubai and Singapore build skyskrapper buildings to provide homes for their people without any problem. In dubai on buildings in coastal side with seaview appartment having high rent for living that is used for touriest and forginer guest also make addition in national GDP.
On the other hand, proper planning of making new buildings in cities is very crucial according to recent censes.Furthermore, make small town across the cities is also important for provide large and horizental houses. Moreover, due to tall buildings the value of small houses decrease and also make some security issuses.
In conclusion, i firmly believe that build tall buildings in furture to overcome the issue of shortage of houses is very significant and realistic.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you strongly support tall apartment buildings, and you give relevant reasons about using limited land efficiently and managing security. The examples of Dubai and Singapore also connect to the topic. You address the opposing view by mentioning planning, nearby towns, and security concerns, but these points are brief and their relationship to your main argument is not fully explained. For instance, the claim that tall buildings reduce the value of small houses needs clarification or evidence. To strengthen the response, develop each reason with a clearer explanation and a specific example, and explain why vertical housing is preferable overall despite the drawbacks you identify.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, supporting points, a counterargument, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “For example,” “On the other hand,” and “Furthermore” help signal relationships between ideas. However, progression is uneven: the second reason about security is very short, while the Dubai example shifts to tourism and GDP without clearly showing how this supports providing enough homes. Some transitions feel mechanical, and the opposing points are grouped together without showing how they relate to one another. Organise each body paragraph around one main claim, then explain and illustrate it before moving on. Clearer links between the example and your argument would make the overall progression easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “vertical buildings,” “land,” “security,” “high rent,” and “national GDP,” so the reader can understand the general subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings make parts less clear, such as “proper planning,” “small towns,” and “houses with garden.” There are also repeated forms such as “build tall buildings” and “make apartments,” where more natural collocations would improve precision. Aim to use a wider range of accurate housing and urban-planning terms, and check spelling carefully. More precise wording would help distinguish between housing supply, affordability, and tourism-related development.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast between the two views and a reason introduced by “because.” However, sentence structures are often faulty, and errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. For example, “many people think that build tall buildings” lacks a correctly formed verb pattern, while “The primary reason why i support that because…” combines two incompatible sentence structures. There are also recurring problems with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “appartment having high rent.” Practise forming complete clauses with consistent verb forms, and review articles and punctuation. More accurate control of these patterns would make your argument clearer.
