Student answer (Band 4.5)

Some people believe that the best way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks. For instance, if we build tall appartments blocks it can help to reduce land wastage because land is expensive and appartments are a good solution. Although this view point may seem valid to some extent, I believe it overlooksseveral key aspects, Another reason is why people hold this belief is due overpopulation, peoples move to cities the reason is that jobs are there so, tall buildings are needed. For example, many people move to the citice it can cause the overpopulation so it is a very good idea that we make appartments and it is helpful for people.

Neverthrless, these arguments are not entirely convincing when weighed against the broader implication.

One of the main reason i support tall bulding are not good. This is evident from in tall building no anyone have privacy and it can cause the noise that is not good for this busy life.

Various studies and real life examples have shown that tall building often leadsto control the population. For instance, in large building the children have no space for playing because many families are lived in this building, if children are playing in small pace it can cause noise and everyone disturb with this. Therefore it is clear that my opini

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You address the topic and give reasons both for building apartments and against them, including land use, population growth, privacy and children’s play space. However, your position is difficult to follow: you first say tall buildings are a good solution, then state that you support the view that they are not good, and the conclusion is cut off at “my opini”. The reasons are only briefly explained, and some examples do not clearly show why tall blocks are or are not the best way to provide homes. The response is 211 words, so it is 39 words below the required minimum; this limits the opportunity to develop your argument. State your position clearly and support each main point with a specific explanation.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is an attempt to organise the response into paragraphs, and transitions such as “Although” and “Nevertheless” signal contrast. However, ideas are not arranged in a clear, consistent progression. The opening paragraph combines arguments for tall buildings with an unclear transition to overpopulation, while the next paragraph introduces a counterargument without explaining how it relates to the earlier points. Linking phrases such as “Another reason” and “Therefore” do not always make the relationship between ideas clear. The final sentence is incomplete, so the essay has no finished conclusion. Plan one paragraph for each main argument, use linking expressions only where the relationship is clear, and complete the essay with a concise summary of your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

Your vocabulary is basic but includes some relevant topic language, such as “overpopulation”, “privacy”, “land” and “children”. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make the response harder to read: “appartments”, “citice”, “Neverthrless” and “bulding”. Some phrases are also unnatural or unclear, including “land wastage”, “control the population” and “small pace”. Repetition of “tall building” and “good idea” further limits precision. Build a bank of accurate housing and urban-planning expressions, and check spelling and collocations. For example, “reduce land wastage” could be expressed more naturally as “use limited urban land more efficiently”.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a conditional structure (“if we build… it can help”) and a concession beginning “Although”. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles and punctuation sometimes make meaning unclear. For example, “One of the main reason i support tall bulding are not good” has problems with the subject and verb relationship, while “many families are lived in this building” uses an incorrect verb form. Several ideas are joined into long, loosely connected sentences, and the final sentence is incomplete. Practise building accurate subject–verb patterns and separating ideas into complete sentences. Then check articles, plurals and punctuation, especially in longer sentences.
