Student answer (Band 5.5)

The best way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks i agree with it because large amount of people come in cities to find jobs and good education. But there are some disadvantages of tall apartment blocks like crowd, traffic issue, etc.

On the one hand, many people come in cities from rural area to improve quality of life. There are large crowd of people in cities, As a result, many housing problems arise due to limited space. So building tall apartments block is the best way to overcome this problem. For Example, house has very high demand in large cities due to this not everyone can afford the house easily. However, apartments blocks are usually cheaper than house because it land price is divides in to everyone who own the appartment in building. That's why i think build tall apartment blocks is the way to provide enough homes to the citizen.

On the other hand, there are also some disadvantages of build many tall apartment blocks. The crowd of people are increase so, it make many issues like parking, crowd in public place, fight etc. But, it all depend on us if we try then we must overcome all of this issues that are arice. For Example make a separate parking place for every building.

In conclusion, best way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks because many people migrate in cities from another area to improve their basic needs. It arise many issue but society needs to first make the solution of all the problems that are arise due to apartment blocks than make the tall apartment blocks.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a clear overall view in favour of tall apartment blocks and address both their housing benefits and possible drawbacks. The explanation that high demand and limited space make apartments useful is relevant, and the example of shared land costs helps support your position. However, the response only partly develops the task: the disadvantages are listed as “parking” and “crowd in public place,” but their effects and the proposed solution are not explained in much detail. The conclusion also repeats the main point rather than adding a developed final insight. To strengthen the response, explain more fully why high-rise housing is the best option compared with alternatives, and support each main reason with a specific, clearly explained example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs signalled by “On the one hand” and “On the other hand,” and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify the main stages of your argument. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and linking phrases can feel mechanical or inaccurate. For example, “However” introduces the point about apartments being cheaper, although it does not clearly contrast with the preceding idea. The final sentence is difficult to follow because several ideas are joined together. Improve cohesion by arranging each paragraph around one main point, using clear references to connect sentences, and avoiding repeated transitions when a direct explanation would be clearer.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the general argument, including “limited space,” “housing problems,” “demand,” and “parking.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning less clear. Examples include “crowd of people are increase,” “house has very high demand,” and “the land price is divides in to everyone.” There are also spelling errors such as “appartment” and “arice.” Aim to learn common phrases as complete units, such as “housing demand is high” and “the cost of land is shared among residents.” More precise vocabulary for urban planning and housing would help you express your ideas with greater clarity and flexibility.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including cause-and-effect structures such as “As a result” and conditional phrasing such as “if we try.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries occur frequently enough to make parts of the response difficult to read. For example, “The crowd of people are increase” needs a correctly formed verb, while “That's why i think build tall apartment blocks” is missing a grammatical structure after “think.” Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, particularly where sentences run together. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and verb patterns, then check each sentence for a clear subject and main verb.
