Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is often argued that making tall building is the effective method to provide enough homes in large cities. I completely agree with this statement because it can help preserve land for other purposes and accommodate more people in a small area.

The main reason why i agree with this view is that tall building can accommodate a large number of people in a limited area. This is because large cities have limited land and tall buildings makes better use of the available space. As a result, many families can find affordable housing and the housing shortage can be reduced. For instance, in dhaka, high-rise building can provide homes for hundreds of families on a relatively small piece of land. Thus, apartment blocks can solve housing problem in a good way.

Another reason is that high-rise building help us preserve valuable urban land for other purposes. If people live in apartment blocks, cities do not need to spread out as much to provide housing. Concequently, more land can be used for parks, hospitals and roads. It may improve peoples' quality of life and provide the scence of happiness. For example, if a city has a hospital facilities, many people can get health services and achieve sound life. Thus, tall apartment blocks can enhance the quality of life in the city people.

In conclusion, I strongly agree that by making high-rise building can be a best the best method because it distribute homes for many households and protect land for using other purposes.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction to the conclusion: you completely agree that tall apartment blocks can help meet housing needs. Both main reasons are relevant to the question: they house many people on limited land and can leave more space for parks, hospitals and roads. The Dhaka example also supports the first point. However, some ideas are less fully developed than others. The claim that high-rise housing makes homes affordable is asserted rather than explained, and the discussion of hospitals and quality of life moves away from showing how building tall blocks achieves this. Develop each link more explicitly—for example, explain how greater housing supply could affect prices and how compact development preserves land. This would make the argument more consistently supported and precise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement, with an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion that restates your position. Sequencing phrases such as “The main reason,” “Another reason,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical because several sentences end with “Thus,” and the repeated pattern of stating a reason, giving a broad result, and summarising it makes the progression feel formulaic. Some links between ideas are also unclear: the hospital example does not clearly show how apartment blocks lead to better health services, and “It” in “It may improve peoples' quality of life” has an imprecise reference. Use more varied transitions and make the relationship between each example and its main point explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “limited land,” “available space,” “housing shortage,” “high-rise building,” and “urban land,” so the reader can understand the subject and your main points. There are also attempts at more specific phrasing, such as “a relatively small piece of land.” However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive: “making tall building,” “solve housing problem in a good way,” and “the city people” do not sound natural. Spelling errors such as “Concequently” and “scence” also reduce accuracy. Aim to learn common word partnerships and check spelling; replacing repeated general phrases with precise expressions would make your argument clearer and more fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple statements and complex sentences, including a reason clause (“This is because…”) and a conditional structure (“If people live in apartment blocks…”). Most of the meaning remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in both sentence patterns and basic forms. For example, “tall buildings makes” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “high-rise building help” also needs agreement. The conclusion, “by making high-rise building can be a best the best method,” is structurally unclear, and “a hospital facilities” has an article–plural mismatch. Practise checking agreement, articles and plural forms, and simplify sentences when needed. More accurate control of these forms, alongside your existing complex structures, would strengthen the writing.
