Student answer (Band 6.0)

Few individuals argue to the statement that the best way to provide a spacious house hold in metropolitan cities is by building tall apartment blocks and gated communities. Although, owning an apartment have a few negative impacts such as following the rules kept by the communities, not having our own land, i feell owning an apartment tends to create more houses in less space. I completely agree with this statement.

To begin with, when we construct these tall buildings and create a community we can get to access all the amenities provided within the communities such as parks, gym, club house and community halls to celebrate a small family gathering. Another helpful reason to own an apartment rather than building our own indipendent house is that we do not have to compromise anything including the security provided and also it is quite economical, as one doesnot have to spend much on other services which are already included in the amenities provided. An individual does not have to spend additional charges on buying a land and constructing it as it would already be done by the builders and the only cost they must bare is the cost for the purchase of aparment which is reasonable.

In addition, we also get to meet a lot of new people who live in the same community and tend to spend evenings without feeling alone. Adults can go for walk, spend time in the club area or hit gym with the similar age group people and kids can play and enjoy together in the communities under the supervision of security who constantly monitors the community.

In conclution, i personally feel apartments create a lot of advantages if used properly, one can make new friends and build their network as there are lot of families living in a community, and kids benefit by making friends of same age group and have their an outdoor play and reduce their screen time. It is also finantially a good investment without burning the pockets and without worrying about the whole constuction part.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you completely agree that apartment blocks are an effective way to provide homes, and you give relevant reasons, including shared amenities, lower individual costs, security and opportunities for social contact. These points address the topic, but the response focuses more on the benefits to residents than on how tall buildings provide enough homes in large cities. The key idea of housing more people on limited urban land is only briefly stated in the introduction and is not developed with an explanation or example. Some supporting points, such as the benefits for children, are repeated in the conclusion rather than extended. To strengthen the response, explain the density advantage directly and support it with a specific example, while also developing the drawbacks you mention in the introduction.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present benefits, and a conclusion restates your position. The progression from amenities and cost to social benefits is easy to follow, and linking phrases such as “To begin with” and “In addition” help signal the sequence. This meets the lower-band expectations and shows some features of stronger organisation. However, the first body paragraph combines several separate points—facilities, security and affordability—so the central argument about housing capacity is not given a distinct, logical development. The conclusion also repeats ideas from the body rather than drawing them together. Group related reasons more tightly and use clearer references between claims and explanations to make the progression more purposeful.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “amenities,” “security,” “community” and “financially,” and the reader can generally understand your meaning. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “additional charges” and “screen time.” However, inaccurate word choice, spelling and collocation are noticeable and sometimes make the writing less natural: “spacious house hold” does not express the idea of providing homes, “indipendent house” is misspelled, and “bare the cost” should use a different verb. “Burning the pockets” is also an awkward expression in this context. Aim for precise, conventional phrasing and check spelling and word forms carefully; this would make your adequate range more controlled and easier to read.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a concession in the introduction and longer explanations using “as” and “who.” This gives the response some structural variety, and the main ideas remain understandable. However, some errors in agreement, articles, verb forms and sentence construction reduce accuracy. For example, “owning an apartment have” should use a singular verb, while “we do not have to compromise anything including the security provided” is awkwardly constructed. The opening “Although” clause is not correctly connected to the main clause, and “kids benefit … and have their an outdoor play” contains a faulty structure. Work on checking subject–verb agreement and building complete, well-linked clauses; also vary complex structures while keeping them accurate.
