Student answer (Band 6.0)
Growing population raise several issues regarding management. Accommodating the masses remains top of the shelf. There is ongoing debate that whether homes should be provided in large cities or tall buildings be built.
People in favor of tall apartment blocks argue that homes take a lot of space. Which, results in reduction in agricultural land. We are already using 80% of fertile available land. Growing cities have started consuming the area rapidly. Here, the main issue is that population is increasing while, food growing land is decreasing. So, the time is near when there will be huge difference need and production. Apartment accommodation also allows planners to build more public areas, hospitals, schools and other facilities more compactly. For instance, Beijing has built a building that accommodate more than a million people in it. While surroundings have every facility imaginable. People do not have to travel long to reach the destinations. It has positive effect on environment as well. Less travel by vehicles means less carbon emissions. Furthermore, building homes costs way more than that of apartment buildings. So, as a result, it has positive effect overall.
On the other hand advocates of providing houses in large city argue that houses can have better security as compared to apartments. Separate houses can provide much needed privacy as well.
I think that in large cities tall buildings are must to prevent environment from further damage. It is true that houses has more space, better security and privacy, but in can not counter the fact that we need more space for cultivation, schools and other facilities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address the question and give a clear preference for tall apartment buildings, especially in the conclusion: “tall buildings are must to prevent environment from further damage.” Relevant reasons include preserving land for cultivation, making facilities more accessible, and reducing vehicle use. You also acknowledge the opposing view that houses offer security and privacy, so both sides are considered. However, some points are asserted rather than explained: the claim that 80% of fertile land is already being used and the example of a Beijing building accommodating a million people need clarification or support. The comparison with houses is brief, and the conclusion could explain more directly why the benefits of apartments outweigh those drawbacks.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has an overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting apartment blocks, a paragraph presenting the opposing view, and a concluding position. Linking expressions such as “For instance,” “On the other hand,” and “Furthermore” help readers follow the argument. However, progression within the main paragraph is sometimes uneven: the discussion moves from agricultural land to facilities, travel, emissions, and cost without clearly showing how each point connects to the central claim. Some transitions feel mechanical, and “Which, results in reduction in agricultural land” is an unclear sentence fragment. Develop a more deliberate sequence of reasons and use referencing or transitions to make the relationships between claims clearer.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic-related vocabulary, including “agricultural land,” “cultivation,” “public areas,” “carbon emissions,” “security,” and “privacy.” These choices make the subject clear, and you attempt more formal expressions such as “advocates” and “accommodating the masses.” Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, however: “top of the shelf,” “homes take a lot of space,” and “positive effect overall” do not express the ideas precisely. “Building” is also repeated where “high-rise apartments” or “residential towers” could add variety. Aim for natural collocations and precise phrasing, and check word forms such as “accommodation” when using it to describe housing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex forms, including a relative clause in “a building that accommodate more than a million people” and a contrast structure beginning “It is true that…”. The main argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur across the response. Examples include subject–verb agreement in “Growing population raise” and “houses has,” missing articles in “tall buildings are must,” and faulty sentence construction in “Which, results in reduction…” The sentence beginning “There is ongoing debate that whether…” also uses an incorrect clause pattern. Review agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries, then proofread complex sentences to ensure their clauses are complete and correctly connected.
