Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

You identify the topic and give a partial position with “I partly argue with this,” then begin to explain one relevant benefit: apartment blocks could increase housing availability. However, the response does not develop this position or address the question in a balanced way. There is no explanation of when tall blocks are preferable, no alternative approach, and the example about a report is unfinished, so it does not support the claim. The response also falls substantially short of the required 250 words, leaving the task largely incomplete. To improve, state clearly which aspects you agree with, develop at least two reasons, and support each with a complete, relevant example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an introductory paragraph is followed by a body paragraph, and “Predominantly” signals the start of a supporting point. The main idea—more apartments may provide more housing—is identifiable. However, the response ends before a clear progression or conclusion is established, and the example is cut off. Some links are awkward or unclear, such as “The buildings apartments not only…”; the relationship between this sentence and the preceding claim is therefore difficult to follow. Build a complete paragraph around one central point, use clear references and linking phrases, and add a concluding paragraph that restates your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You attempt topic-related vocabulary, including “population,” “housing facilities,” “apartments,” and “availability,” so the reader can recognise the general subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices, collocations, and spellings reduce clarity: “huge houses” is not a precise way to describe apartment blocks, while “boost the 35% availability” is incomplete and unnatural. There are also repeated references to housing without much variation. Aim for accurate phrases such as “high-rise apartment buildings,” “increase the housing supply,” and “affordable accommodation.” Check spelling carefully and choose collocations that express your intended meaning precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the “not only…but also” construction and a sentence beginning “For example.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors often make the intended relationships difficult to understand. For instance, “by building huge houses in large cities provide” lacks a clear grammatical subject, and “people may will be live” combines incompatible verb forms. Agreement is also problematic in “people who is living,” while sentence boundaries and capitalisation are not consistently controlled. Practise forming a clear subject–verb structure first, then check verb patterns, agreement, articles, and punctuation. A few accurate, complete sentences would make your ideas much easier to follow.
