Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is often argue that the best way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks. I completely agree with this perspective because of great need of homes for people and high population.

The primary reason i believe that the best way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks because of great need of homes for people living and working in the city. In great cities accomodation is very expensive and people need houses and they cannot live in small city and travel to work everyday. for example if a person works in big city then he wants to live in same city to save his time and travel costs. Because of this reason building tall apartment blocks is a good way to provide accomodation.

Another reason why building large apartment blocks in big city is necessary because of every facility big cities have large population. To accomodate every individual building apartments is a better solution rather than giving each family a separate home. for example a large apartment block can accomodate a lot of people while a house can be a home of a single family. That,s why building large apartments is a good solution in large cities.

In conclusion, i strongly believe that construction of tall apartment blocks in large cities is a better way to provide homes to people due to accomotion of a lot of people and great demand of housing among people.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

Your position is clear: you completely agree that tall apartment blocks can provide homes in large cities. You give two relevant reasons—high housing demand and the ability to accommodate many people—and include simple examples comparing an apartment block with a single-family house. However, the response addresses the task only partially because these points are repeated and remain under-developed; for instance, the claim that city workers need to live in the same city is not explored, and there is little discussion of why tall blocks are the best option compared with alternatives. The authoritative count is 216 words, so the response is 34 words below the 250-word minimum; 32 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop each reason with clearer explanation and a more specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The paragraphs each focus on a relevant reason, and phrases such as “Another reason” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. However, progression within the paragraphs is limited: several sentences repeat that apartment blocks accommodate many people without adding a new step to the reasoning. Linking is also sometimes mechanical, as in the repeated use of “Because of this reason” and “That’s why.” Improve the flow by making each paragraph develop one distinct point in sequence, and use clearer referencing so that examples connect directly to the claim they support.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the basic argument, including “apartment blocks,” “population,” “accommodation,” and “housing.” However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “large cities,” “people,” and “building.” Some choices are inaccurate or awkward, such as “great need of homes,” “every facility big cities have large population,” and “accomotion,” which make parts of the argument less clear. Spelling errors such as “accomodation” and “accomodate” are also noticeable. Build a wider set of accurate housing and urban-planning expressions, and check spelling and collocations so that your ideas sound more precise and natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple sentences and longer structures, including a reason clause beginning “because” and an example introduced by “for example.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. For example, “It is often argue” has an incorrect verb form, while “The primary reason i believe … because” lacks a grammatical structure linking the reason to the claim. There are also problems with articles, agreement and sentence boundaries, as in “a large apartment block can accomodate a lot of people while a house can be a home of a single family.” Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent. Practise building complete sentences with accurate subject–verb patterns, then proofread each sentence for boundaries and basic agreement.
