Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is an undeniable fact that building massive apartments to compete the need of homes in large cities is getting popular now a days. Some might disagree with this statement but I totally agree with that view. Not only because of more space and less covering area, meeting the basic facilities but also strong connection between neighbours. This essay will clearly justify my opinion.

Although, there are multiple reasons to support my opinion but one of the most pre-dominant reason to support this statement is that the tall buildings are providing more space while occupies less area. Today, everyone want to move in cities because of the more job opportunities with a handsome salary options. For- example, A latest BBC report shows that in Pakistan around 50-60% of people are moving to cities just to maintaining there basic life style or to get the basic need. Thus, this statement can single-handedly supports my opinion.

Furthermore, another compelling reason to defend my stance is meeting the basic facilities. Huge buildings in the form of apartement can easily provide basic needs because they are made in such a way that every thing is present inside the bulding. You have no need to go outside to buy averything. For- instance, In Lahore, there are certain housing appartements nut the most famous of them is Bahria Town Apartement, They are build in such a way that youy donot need to go outside the town. Almost every basic household itme is availabe within the town. Even, Medical facilties in any emergency can also be fullfilled inside their blocks. Hence, This reference can easily support my notion.

Moreover, another leading reason that can act as a fueling force behind building tall apartments is to make a strong connection between different peiople living at the same place. This can help people of different cities, ages, races to live together and not only share their thoughts, feelings but also emotions.

In conclusion, I totally agree with the given statement that the making of tall buildings to provide basic home facilties to people is the best way not only because of more space and less covering area, meeting the basic facilities but also strong connection between neighbours

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you state that you “totally agree” and maintain this view in the conclusion. You also give relevant reasons, including efficient land use, access to facilities and interaction among residents. However, the response only partly develops the question of whether tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide enough homes. The first reason is supported by a broad claim about people moving to cities, while the examples about facilities describe a self-contained town more than how apartment blocks increase housing supply. The point about social connection is also asserted rather than explained. To strengthen the response, compare high-rise housing with alternatives and develop each reason with a specific, clearly relevant example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the ideas generally follow a sensible order. Linking phrases such as “Furthermore,” “Moreover” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. However, the progression can feel mechanical because several paragraphs repeat the same pattern of announcing a reason and then saying it supports your opinion. Some connections are unclear: the paragraph about facilities shifts from apartment buildings to Bahria Town and its services, so the example does not clearly connect to the claim about tall blocks. The introduction’s list of reasons is also difficult to follow. Use clearer topic sentences and explain the link between each example and the central question.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “job opportunities,” “basic facilities,” “housing” and “neighbours,” and phrases such as “compelling reason” show an effort to use less common language. However, the range is limited by repeated wording such as “basic” and “reason,” and several inaccurate word choices or collocations make meaning less clear. For example, “compete the need of homes” does not express the intended idea naturally, and “less covering area” is imprecise. There are also noticeable spelling and word-form errors, including “apartement,” “availabe” and “facilties.” Build a more precise vocabulary for housing supply and urban planning, and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including “Although there are multiple reasons…” and the “not only…but also” construction. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence construction occur frequently enough to affect clarity. For example, “everyone want” should be “everyone wants,” while “the tall buildings are providing more space while occupies less area” has an unclear subject–verb structure. The opening fragment, “Not only because of more space…,” is not a complete sentence, and the final sentence is difficult to parse. Practise building complete sentences around one main clause, then check subject–verb agreement and whether each clause has a clear subject and verb.
