Student answer (Band 6.0)
Population in big cities is increasing day by day and some people suggest that contrusting tall residential buildings is the best solution. However,I completely disagree with this vision.
One of my major concerns is that such constructions can lead to environmental pollution.Urban areas are already saturated and by building huge apartment blocks, there will be a large influx of population toward cities.More population will bring more traffic and eventually environmental concerns will be raised. For example, cities like Mumbai,New Delhi and Lahore have lower air quality index.
Another concern is that making more flats will encourage people to shift to larger cities. As we all know urbanization is a key factor of inbalance between demand and supply in the big cities. For example,a larger population in a particular city will increase demand for food and it will be dificult to maintain quality of food.Mass migration will also increase pressure on schools, colleges offices and hospitals to entertain every citizen. In fact it is the responsibilitty of our authorities to give more facilities to the people living in the far areas instead of bringing them to the cities. Therefore, the focus should be on opening new schools, colleges and office sites in rural areas. In this way, there will be a balance in urban life and rural life.
The people who argue that tall apartments should be build, believe that this idea can accomodate a large number of community and help them to make their future. However, this is a short term idea which can adjust people for some months or years. In the long run, capacity will decrease and people woll be deprived of basic facilities.
In conclusion,I believe that there should be a plan which support not only economy but also lower environmental risks. Therefore,a balance life should be maintained in the big cities by allowing limited construction.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the introduction (“I completely disagree”) and remains consistent in the conclusion. You give relevant reasons, including pressure on transport, food supplies and public services, and propose developing facilities in rural areas. The response also acknowledges the opposing view that tall buildings can accommodate many people. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained: for instance, the link between apartment construction and increased migration is not demonstrated, and the claim that capacity will decrease over time is unclear. The environmental argument would be stronger if it distinguished the effects of building from those of population growth. Develop each main reason with a clearer explanation or specific example to make the response more fully supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two paragraphs presenting concerns, a paragraph acknowledging the opposing view, and a conclusion. Ideas generally progress in a sensible order, and signposts such as “Another concern,” “However,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument. At times, though, linking is mechanical or the relationship between ideas is not fully clear. For example, the move from urbanisation to food quality and then to pressure on schools and hospitals groups several consequences without showing how each supports the central claim. The final paragraph also introduces the opposing view quite late. Organise each body paragraph around one main reason, then explain and illustrate it before moving to the next point.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “environmental pollution,” “urbanization,” “demand and supply,” “mass migration,” and “basic facilities.” These choices make the subject clear, and some less common expressions show an effort to discuss urban planning precisely. However, several word-choice, collocation and spelling errors reduce accuracy, such as “inbalance,” “entertain every citizen,” and “make their future.” There are also misspellings including “contrusting,” “dificult,” and “responsibilitty.” These do not prevent understanding, but they make the writing less natural and precise. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations for housing, migration and public services; prefer exact phrases over broad or awkward wording.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure (“by building huge apartment blocks, there will be…”) and a relative clause (“the people who argue…”). Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. Examples include subject–verb agreement in “a plan which support,” the passive form “should be build,” and the verb form “people woll be deprived” (the intended form is “will be”). Sentence boundaries and spacing after full stops and commas also need attention, as in “solution. However” and “In conclusion,I.” These errors do not usually block meaning, but they limit accuracy. Review agreement, passive constructions and punctuation, then proofread each sentence for a complete and correctly formed clause.
