Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both the benefits and drawbacks of tall apartment blocks, and your examples about limited urban land, rental costs, and plumbing problems are relevant. However, the response does not clearly answer the extent to which you agree: the introduction says “I agree,” while the conclusion mainly says there are advantages and disadvantages without restating a definite position. Some points are also under-developed. For example, you mention that apartments “take less rental” but do not explain how this supports providing enough homes, and the rules about noise and visitors are not clearly connected to the central question. State your position consistently and explain how each main point affects housing supply or residents’ needs.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs presenting contrasting sides, and a conclusion. This gives the reader a basic overall structure, and examples are generally placed near the points they illustrate. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow: “Then more people building tall blocks” does not clearly connect the land shortage to the number of homes, and the shift from rental prices to apartment facilities is abrupt. Linking phrases such as “On the one hand” and “Furthermore” are attempted, but some are inaccurate or repetitive, and references such as “that blocks” and “that apartments” are unclear. Organise each paragraph around one main claim, then explain and illustrate it in a clear sequence.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use a basic range of topic-related vocabulary, including “apartment blocks,” “small space,” “rental,” “pipe,” and “citizen,” so the general subject is usually identifiable. However, vocabulary is repetitive and often inaccurate, which sometimes makes the intended meaning difficult to understand. Phrases such as “all including,” “take less rental,” and “safe some spaces” do not express the ideas naturally; spelling errors such as “socity,” “apaertment,” and “leake” also reduce clarity. Build a more reliable set of collocations for housing and urban planning, and check spelling and word forms. More precise choices would help you explain affordability, density, maintenance, and residents’ privacy without relying on vague wording.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple sentences and some longer structures, including examples introduced with “for example” and a contrast between the two sides. However, the range is limited, and errors in sentence construction and basic grammar occur throughout, sometimes making relationships between ideas unclear. For instance, “Larges cities are only has small lands” has problems with subject–verb structure, while “Some apartment are including a AC” has errors in number, article use, and verb form. The conclusion also contains incomplete or unclear constructions, such as “Some people are like free and some not.” Practise forming accurate subject–verb sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and conjunctions. Check articles, plurals, verb forms, and sentence boundaries during revision.
