Student answer (Band 5.5)

Large cities contain more citizens than small cities thus there are many problems regarding providing home for ala citizens. Some individuals think that the solution is building tall apartment blocks .

From my perspective, i strongly believe that this solution is not for a life time. Apartment blocks and large buildings may have numerous disadvantages. To commence with, living in such small space can be highly detrimental fo mental health. For intance, being at the same room with all your siblings can be frustrating because there is no privacy. In addition, the city will be crowded and that can indeed affect the economie there. For exemple, it will reduce job opportunities thus the goverement will spend a lot of money to those unemployed citizens .

In contrast, building numurous apartment blocks can be positive on a bunch of jobs like architecture, plombers and even constructors. Furthermore, indiviuals will be able to discover other cultures and languages from new citizens and even enhance their communication skills by socializing with more people, competing with them in interviews for new jobs. For instance, last years I did an interviews for a new postion with an establishment in my own city however I found many of my competitions applying for this job were from abother cities so I did my best to take this position .

in conclusion, buildin apartment blocks to provide enough homes can be detrimental for our health and decline oppotunitions; In contrast. it can improve our communication and social skills .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a clear overall view that tall apartment blocks are not a complete or lasting solution, and you consider both disadvantages and benefits. The points about privacy and mental health, employment in construction, and contact with people from other backgrounds are relevant to housing in large cities. However, the response only partly develops the task: it does not explain why high-rise building is or is not the best way to provide enough homes, or compare it with alternatives such as building outward or improving existing housing. Some claims, particularly that apartment blocks reduce job opportunities and harm the economy, are unclear or insufficiently supported. Develop fewer points with a direct explanation and a relevant example, and make your degree of agreement more precise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting contrasting points, and a conclusion, so the reader can identify its broad structure. You also use signposts such as “To commence with,” “In contrast,” and “In conclusion.” However, progression within paragraphs is uneven: the first body paragraph moves from privacy to crowding and then to job opportunities without clearly showing how these ideas connect. The second paragraph combines employment, cultural exchange, communication skills, and a personal interview example, which makes its main point difficult to follow. Some linking phrases are mechanical or do not express the relationship accurately. Organise each paragraph around one central claim, then explain and illustrate it in a clear sequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “detrimental,” “privacy,” “job opportunities,” and “socializing,” and you try to express ideas about employment and cultural diversity. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors make parts of the response harder to understand, such as “ala citizens,” “plombers,” “competitions,” and “oppotunitions.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, including “positive on a bunch of jobs” and “spend a lot of money to those unemployed citizens.” Choose more accurate collocations and check spelling carefully. Using topic-specific terms such as “housing demand,” “residential density,” and “construction employment” would help you express your argument more precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a reason clause in “because there is no privacy” and a result clause beginning “thus.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in sentence construction, verb forms, articles, and punctuation. For example, “Large cities contain more citizens than small cities thus there are many problems” joins two independent clauses without suitable punctuation or a conjunction. “Last years I did an interviews” has problems with the time expression, article, and plural form, while “the solution is building” would be clearer as “the solution is to build.” Capitalise “I,” and review sentence boundaries, subject–verb agreement, and article use. Aim for accurate, complete sentences before adding more complex structures.
