Student answer (Band 6.0)
In today's rapidly changing world, population is significantly increasing which creates plenty of housing shortages. Many people believe that to resolve this issue the best way is to build skyrise buildings in metro cities which can accommodate large number of people. I largely agree with this statement. In this essay, I will provide justification to support my statement.
To begin with, tall buildings uses less space and create more homes. To elaborate, a tall buildings generally have multiple stories and mainly each floor has one or more than one house so it can easily accommodate many families rather than building a home on a piece of land that can only be enough for one family. To illustrate, metro cities such as Mumbai and Delhi doesn't have enough land left because of it there are numerous skyscrapers which can provide plenty of shelter to accommodate it's large population. Therefore, I think it can resolve the inadequacy of houses.
Another key factor is that it is economically beneficial by this I mean as large apartments are mainly build on small proportion of land. Due to this, it is less expensive than building a separate house for that reason everyone can live in their own house and many city's large area is covered by slums and poor people who cannot afford to buy house since apartments are cheaper they can also be able to rent or buy it. For example, China and Thailand is popular city for it's population and to resolve it their government has come up with the idea of multi-story building as it is much cheaper. Consequently, It is affordable for all people despite their financial condition.
To sum up, I believe that building skyscrapers can provide enough houses in metropolitan cities. This is primarily because of it's advantage of using smaller space to create multiple houses and it is also beneficial for middle class people as they can rent or live in their own house without spending more money.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction (“I largely agree”) and remains consistent in the conclusion. You give two relevant reasons: apartment blocks use less land and can be more affordable, and you support these with examples involving Mumbai, Delhi, China and Thailand. This addresses the task and provides a sound basis for your view. However, the affordability argument is less fully explained: the claim that apartments are cheaper does not distinguish construction costs from what residents can actually afford, and the country examples are asserted rather than illustrated with specific evidence. To strengthen the response, explain how higher-density construction increases the number of homes on a limited site, and develop one example in more detail. The response shows some development, but not yet consistently precise support.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion that restates your position. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Another key factor,” and “To sum up” help readers follow the argument. The progression is generally logical, although some linking is mechanical and several sentences contain too many connected ideas. For example, the affordability paragraph moves from land costs to slums, renting, buying and international examples without clearly separating these points. References such as “it” and “this” are also sometimes unclear. Use shorter sentences, make each paragraph’s main point explicit, and connect examples directly to the claim they support to make cohesion more controlled.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic-related vocabulary, including “housing shortages,” “accommodate,” “metropolitan cities,” “skyscrapers” and “financial condition.” These choices make the subject clear, and you attempt some less common expressions. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or imprecise, such as “skyrise buildings,” “plenty of shelter,” “small proportion of land” and “popular city for it's population.” Repetition of “house,” “people” and “cheaper” also limits flexibility. Aim for more precise terms such as “high-rise apartment blocks,” “housing supply” and “limited land area,” and check collocations and word forms. These issues do not prevent understanding, but greater accuracy and variety would make the argument more natural and precise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because,” “since” and “which,” and your meaning is generally understandable. However, some errors in agreement, articles, plurals and sentence boundaries remain. For example, “tall buildings uses” should have a plural verb, while “a tall buildings” combines an incorrect article and plural noun. In “Mumbai and Delhi doesn't,” the verb should agree with the plural subject. The long sentence beginning “Due to this” joins several ideas without clear punctuation, making the structure difficult to follow. Review subject–verb agreement and article use, and divide long sentences into complete, clearly punctuated units. More consistent control of these patterns would improve accuracy.
