Student answer (Band 6.0)
In this contemporary era, with the growing population in cities the demand for housing is increasing therefore many people believe that building high rise structures can overcome the need for housing. I am partly agree with this statement, although high rise buildings provide great number of living apartments, however some other schemes should also be considered by relevant authorities to tackle this problem.
In recent days it is becoming difficult to find home for living in big cities due to increasing population. Countries focusing on creating tall building blocks to provide home to every citizen. Promoting vertical life is best way live in cities as a tall building just take a small land and provide homes to thousands of people. Furthermore, governments considering building skyscrapers to provide homes to many people with using just a piece of land. For instance, due to increase in commercial business in big cities like Lahore it is become difficult to purchase a land in city and use it for residential purpose.
Although, tall building use less land and provide homes to many people but this single strategy can not handle the situation to provide accommodation to all citizen. One more thing, creating tall buildings and provide living to large people create numerous problems such as overcrowding, noise issues, many more. Public transport, roads and other public facilities effected by due to overcrowding in a small space. Additionally, some people do not prefer to live in small apartment they want to get separate residence, so there privacy can not be disturbed. For example, authorities should launch some new scheme of residence by creating new towns in cities to overcome on these situations.
In conclusion, although apartments method provide enough homes to accommodate large number of citizen, but i believe that creating new schemes of housing will be more beneficial for everyone.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you partly agree that tall apartment blocks can help, but argue that other housing schemes are also needed. You address both the benefits and drawbacks, including efficient land use, overcrowding, pressure on public facilities, and residents’ preference for privacy. The Lahore example is relevant, but it illustrates the scarcity of land more than the effectiveness of high-rise housing. Some points, such as the problems caused by overcrowding and the proposal to create new towns, are asserted rather than explained or supported in detail. To strengthen the response, develop one or two key points with a clearer explanation of how they affect housing provision, and make the comparison between high-rise blocks and alternative schemes more explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for advantages and limitations, and a conclusion that restates your position. Ideas generally progress from the need for housing to the benefits and then the drawbacks of building upwards. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “Although,” and “Additionally” help signal these stages. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear: “Although” begins a sentence that does not complete the expected contrast smoothly, and “One more thing” is informal and does not clearly show how the point relates to the previous one. The conclusion also repeats the contrast without fully drawing the discussion together. Use clearer topic sentences and more precise referencing to make relationships between ideas easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of housing and urban-planning vocabulary, including “high rise structures,” “overcrowding,” “public transport,” and “residential purpose.” These choices make the main topic clear, and you attempt more specific expressions such as “vertical life” and “commercial business.” However, several phrases are imprecise or unnatural, including “provide home to every citizen,” “creating tall building blocks,” and “overcome on these situations.” Repetition of “provide homes” and “tall buildings” also limits flexibility. Aim for more accurate collocations and vary how you describe housing supply and urban pressures. For example, “accommodate residents” and “ease housing shortages” would express your ideas more naturally and precisely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including a concession structure in “Although tall building use less land…” and a relative clause in “a tall building just take a small land.” This shows some range, and the overall meaning is usually understandable. However, some errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction remain. For example, “I am partly agree” should be “I partly agree,” while “a tall building just take” needs subject–verb agreement. The opening sentence also joins several clauses without clear punctuation, and “some other schemes should also be considered…, however” creates a faulty connection. Check agreement and articles, and divide long sentences or use conjunctions and punctuation to show how clauses relate.
