Student answer (Band 4.5)
I agree with this statement that ''The best way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks'' because in my opinion this will help us to acquire less space in terms of tall apartment blocks. Apparently, when we have tall apartment blocks ultimately we have more floors and we can accomodate more people easily and less space is required for accomodation. Like if we talk about GCC we have noticed remarkably that there are tall apartments block in every building and many people in GCC are from foreign countries and they all came here for their better career and future. Suppose, if there is no tall apartment blocks concept then it would become difficult to accomodate them all and apart from accomodation it will make the whole place conjusted and suffocating. So, I belief this is best way to provide enough homes in large cities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You state a clear position—“I agree”—and give a relevant central reason: apartment blocks can house more people on less land. The GCC example also attempts to show why this matters in cities with many residents. However, the response addresses the task only partially: it gives one main idea, repeats it, and does not develop other considerations or explain why this is the best approach compared with alternatives. The example is broad and hypothetical rather than supported with specific detail. The response is 126 words, so it is 124 words below the required 250-word minimum; this substantially limits the development and support of your argument. To improve, explain your reasoning in depth, add a second relevant point or example, and address the claim’s “best way” aspect.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a recognisable line of thought: you state your agreement, explain the space-saving benefit, and then give the GCC as an example. Linking expressions such as “because,” “Apparently,” and “So” help show connections between ideas. However, the whole answer is one paragraph, and the progression is limited because the same point about accommodating more people is repeated several times. “Like if we talk about GCC” and “Suppose” introduce examples informally, while the final sentence mainly restates the opening. Use separate paragraphs for your position, developed reasons and conclusion, and make each paragraph add a distinct point. More precise referencing and less repetitive linking would make the argument easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main idea, including “tall apartment blocks,” “floors,” “space,” and “congested and suffocating.” The phrase “accommodate more people” is also relevant to the question. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “accommodate” and “tall apartment blocks.” Some choices are inaccurate or awkward, such as “acquire less space” when you mean that buildings use less land, and “foreign countries” where you mean people from other countries. Spelling errors in “accomodate,” “conjusted,” and “belief” are noticeable. Build a wider set of precise terms for housing and urban density, and check spelling and collocations before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some longer sentence forms, including a conditional construction: “if there is no tall apartment blocks concept then it would become difficult…” This shows an effort to connect ideas, and the overall meaning is generally understandable. However, the range is limited, with most sentences relying on simple patterns joined by “and” or “because.” Errors occur in sentence structure and agreement: “there are tall apartments block” needs a plural noun form, and “if there is no tall apartment blocks concept” does not correctly match the singular verb with the plural noun. The opening also repeats the task statement in quotation marks rather than expressing the position directly. Practise accurate conditional sentences and vary sentence structures, then proofread for agreement and punctuation.
