Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is true that some people believe that the best method to provide enough homes in develop cities is to construct tall apartment blocks. I partially agree with this statements because this ideas also have some drawbacks.

On the one hand, there are several reasons why i agree with this idea. Firstly, it provide a sufficient homes for individuals which is actually need in their daily life. We know, few human beings are suffer from a lack of homes and financial support. Secondly, built a tall apartment is provide a large agres of land. which is use in agriculture and this is support our economy system and also grow a plants and vegetables in that empty place. The construction of large building is the best ways to reduce emission gas in our country. For instance, if our government should invest a large amount of money to built a tall houses. It helps to increase our country gdp.

On the other hand, this idea also has a some disadvantages like it is rise air pollution, water pollution in our country. We know, pollotuion is increasing day by day in the modern era. Everyone suffer from different diseases like cancer, lungs fail and so on. If we built a tall apartment blocks it is directly effect in our ecosystem. For example, if we builts a tall apartment first we can destroy constructed building and it automatically effect in our ecesystem.

In conclusion, I argue that the best way to provide homes for people is built a tall building in only developed places like kathmandu, pokhara, chitwan and so on, due to if we built a tall building in rural areas it can directly effect in agriculture. We know, whats role is agriculture in our country and all over the world.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a relevant response and state a partial position: tall apartments can provide homes, but you also recognise environmental costs and distinguish cities from rural areas. However, the position is not fully clear or consistently supported. The opening says you partially agree, while the conclusion calls tall buildings “the best way” in developed places, without explaining how this qualifies your view. Some supporting points are also unclear: the claim that apartment construction “provide a large areas of land” seems to mean it saves land, and the link between construction, lower emissions, and GDP is not explained. Develop each main reason with a clear explanation or specific example, and make your final position match the argument throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs, and a conclusion. “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” help signal the change in viewpoint. However, progression within paragraphs is often difficult to follow because several claims are placed together without clear links. For example, the first body paragraph moves from housing need to agricultural land, emissions, and GDP, but the relationships between these points are not made explicit. Some referencing is also unclear, as in “this idea” and “it automatically effect.” Organise each paragraph around one main reason, explain it before adding an example, and use linking phrases to show cause and contrast rather than relying mainly on basic signposts.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “apartment blocks,” “air pollution,” “agriculture,” and “ecosystem,” so the reader can identify the subject of your argument. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make ideas unclear. For instance, “a large agres of land” does not communicate the intended point, while “financial support” and “constructed building” do not fit their contexts naturally. Spelling errors such as “pollotuion,” “builts,” and “ecesystem” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise vocabulary for housing and urban planning, and check spelling and collocations. For example, use “save land” or “free up land” instead of the unclear phrase about providing land.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including conditional forms such as “if we built a tall apartment blocks,” but grammatical control is inconsistent. Errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction: “it provide a sufficient homes,” “built a tall apartment is provide,” and “it is directly effect” are examples. The sentence beginning “Secondly, built a tall apartment…” also breaks off after “which,” making the relationship between ideas hard to follow. Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, including lowercase “i” and sentence fragments. Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement and verb patterns—for example, “building tall apartments provides homes” and “it directly affects the ecosystem.”
