Student answer (Band 6.0)
At present, a city can not provide enough accomodation to people because of its large populations and it is considered as a major problem. The best way to solve this problem is to introduce tall apartment in large cities. I completely agree with the statement that bulding tall apartment may ensure enough accomodation for its people.
On the one hand, large cities can not provide enough homes because the growing number of populations reduce open spaces and make the city more congested. People from different districts moves towards urban area for different purposes such as employment, businesses and study. As a result a huge migration has taken place that increases the number of populations of the city and makes the city congested. So, government can not ensure homes for every people inside the city by expanding horizontally. Thats why tall building is needed to protect open spaces and securing home for all peoples.
On the other hand, tall buildings have to face some risks because of natural disasters like earthquake. When a tall building is not structured with carefull manners, the building may work as a threat for a congested city. For example, if an earthquake hit in Dhaka city, the entire city will be destroyed because the city has developed without any rules and regulations. Tall city is necessary a city which consists of a large number of populations but it should build by following laws.
In my opinion, tall buldings not only provide homes but also ensure efficiency. It minimizes the landuse and maximizes the advantages of openspces. So it is important for the populations of a large city and government should also take the measure to ensure safety regulations.
In conclusion, it can be said that tall buildings is important for a large city to ensure shelter for its populations and to make the city more efficient with maximum open spaces.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: you completely agree that tall apartments can provide enough accommodation, and the conclusion restates this view. You give relevant reasons, including pressure on urban land, migration to cities, and the need to protect open space. The earthquake example also adds a useful qualification: high-rise housing needs to be built safely. However, the development is uneven. The point about migration is explained, but the claim that tall buildings “ensure efficiency” is only briefly stated, and the Dhaka example focuses more on unsafe construction than on how high-rise housing supplies homes. To strengthen the response, explain these links more fully and support the main benefits with a specific example or clearer reasoning.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting benefits and risks, and a conclusion. The progression from urban population pressure to the need for vertical development is generally easy to follow. Linking phrases such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. At times, however, cohesion is mechanical, and repeated references to “the city,” “populations,” and “tall buildings” make the writing less smooth. Some connections are also unclear: “So” introduces a conclusion without fully showing how the preceding points establish it. Use more precise referencing and vary transitions while making the relationship between each claim and its support explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “congested,” “migration,” “natural disasters,” “regulations,” and “open spaces,” so the main ideas are understandable. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “ensure safety regulations” and “maximizes the advantages.” However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive: “tall apartment” would be more naturally expressed as “high-rise apartment buildings,” while “number of populations” and “every people” are not idiomatic. Spelling errors such as “accomodation,” “bulding,” and “carefull” also reduce accuracy. Build a wider set of accurate housing and urban-planning expressions, and check spelling and common word combinations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses of reason and time, as in “because the growing number of populations reduce open spaces” and “When a tall building is not structured…”. This gives the response some structural variety, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, errors in agreement, articles, plurals, and sentence construction recur. For example, “People… moves” should use a plural verb, and “tall buildings is important” needs plural agreement. The opening phrase “a city can not provide enough…” also has awkward article and number choices. Work on matching subjects and verbs, using articles consistently, and proofreading sentence boundaries and punctuation. More accurate complex sentences would improve control without sacrificing variety.
