Student answer (Band 6.0)

It has been suggested that building tall appartment blocks is the best way to provide enough housing to the people living in large cities. This essay agrees with the given statement because appartment blocks could provide more space to build other beneficial companies in the city and it is easy for the government to provide facilities to the people.

Building tall appartment blocks can be beneficial for the development of the city. If government start providing a house to each family in the city, it will take too much space and there won't be enough room to build other companies that could benefit to the city's development. Recent studies suggested that in most of the developed cities, people usually live in appartments and the concept of housing is really low. So, providing appartment blocks instead of seperate houses can benefit in the city's development.

Moreover, people living in a same building can have more facilities than the people living in different areas of the city. If a number of people live in the same building, it would be much easier for the government to provide facilities such as gas, water and electricity. On the contray, if people start living in different areas of the city, it would be quite difficult for the government to provide each facility to every corner of the city. For instance, if the government knows that these are the specific areas where most of the people live, they will provide all the facilities to the specific areas first and people will have much more facilities.

To conclude, I completely agree with the given statement because building appartment blocks can be very beneficial for the development of the city and governemnt could provide more facilities to the people living in appartments.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction: you agree that tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide housing, and you give two relevant reasons—preserving space for city development and making public services easier to deliver. The conclusion restates this view, so the response addresses the question. However, the reasons are not developed equally fully. The point about using less land is explained, but the claim that apartment living supports “the city's development” remains broad, and the reference to “recent studies” gives no specific evidence. The facilities argument is relevant, though it would be stronger with a concrete example or explanation of how high-density housing improves provision. Develop each reason with more precise support to make the argument more convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion. Paragraphs are focused, and signposts such as “Moreover,” “On the contrary,” and “To conclude” help readers follow the argument. This coherent arrangement supports the central position. Some connections are nevertheless mechanical or imprecise. For example, “On the contrary” introduces a contrast, but the comparison with people living in different areas could be linked more directly to the claim about service delivery. The repeated use of “people,” “facilities,” and “government” also makes the progression feel somewhat repetitive. Use clearer references and vary transitions, while ensuring each sentence develops the point immediately before it.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “apartment blocks,” “housing,” “development,” and “facilities.” Phrases such as “provide facilities” and “specific areas” help explain the practical argument. However, the range is somewhat repetitive, especially in repeated references to “people,” “facilities,” and “city,” and some word choices or collocations are inaccurate or vague: “benefit to the city's development” and “the concept of housing is really low” do not express the intended meaning naturally. Spelling errors also occur in “appartment,” “seperate,” “contray,” and “governemnt.” Aim for more precise collocations and check spelling carefully; this will make the argument sound clearer and more controlled.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex forms, including conditional sentences such as “If a number of people live in the same building, it would be much easier…” and a contrast clause beginning “On the contrary.” Most sentences remain understandable, and the overall meaning is clear. Some grammatical errors persist, however. In “If government start providing a house,” the article and verb agreement need attention; “in a same building” also needs a different article, and “people living in a same building can have” has a similar issue. The sentence “Recent studies suggested” also shifts tense awkwardly in this context. Review articles, subject–verb agreement, and consistent tense, then proofread longer sentences to improve accuracy while retaining varied structures.
