Student answer (Band 5.5)

In big cities, there is a big problem of housing because of increasing population . Some individuals argue that the best way is to promote houses in large cities and tall apartment blocks. I strongly agree with this view.

On the one hand, tall buildings have several benefists. Firstly, it provide greater space for people to live. To illustrates this in large cities, like Islamabad, Karachi there is not empty space to build single homes which provided enough space. If we make tall building with 200 floors ,100 families live instead of housing where only five houses can be made. For instance, In Japan and China, they sloved housing problems by build tall buildings.

Secondly, tall apartments have more advantages . They provide more facilities . When family live in one building this may better for their financial condition. People living in appartment get better facilities of security, parking and beautifaul park where childern play togather.

On the other hand, some people claim that housing is better the main reason is this tall buildings has detrimental effect on privacy and they are over crowded. This is true if buildings are well-planned , and well space this problem can be sloved.

To sum up , I believe tall building is best solution for housing because it give more space and better facilities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you strongly agree that tall apartment blocks are the best solution, and you give relevant reasons about using limited land and providing shared facilities. The examples of Islamabad, Karachi, Japan and China help connect the argument to real places. However, the ideas are only partly developed: the claim that 200 floors could house 100 families is difficult to assess, and the examples are asserted rather than explained. The opposing view about privacy and overcrowding is introduced, but its response is brief and unclear. The response also falls 29 words short of the required minimum, limiting the space available to explain and support your points. Develop each reason with a clearer explanation or specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction states your view, the main paragraphs present benefits and a counterargument, and the conclusion restates your position. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “Secondly,” and “To sum up” makes the broad structure easy to follow. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes abrupt. For example, the move from limited land to the 200-floor example is not fully explained, and “On the other hand” introduces a counterargument that is quickly dismissed without a clear link to your position. Some connections are mechanical or unclear, including “This is true if buildings are well-planned.” Use linking phrases to show cause and effect, and make the relationship between each example and its point explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “housing,” “tall buildings,” “facilities,” “security,” and “privacy.” There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “detrimental effect” and “over crowded.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, word-form, and spelling errors reduce precision: “promote houses” does not express your intended meaning, while “benefists,” “sloved,” and “appartment” are misspelled. Repetition of “tall buildings,” “space,” and “facilities” also makes the argument less varied. Build a bank of accurate housing-related phrases and check spelling and collocations so your meaning is consistently clear.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple sentences and longer structures, including a conditional idea in “if buildings are well-planned” and a relative clause in “where children play.” However, the range remains limited, and errors occur frequently in basic sentence patterns, agreement, articles, and verb forms. For example, “it provide” should have subject–verb agreement, and “When family live in one building this may better” is missing grammatical elements needed to express the relationship clearly. The sentence beginning “To illustrates this” also has an incorrect verb form. Punctuation and spacing are inconsistent, particularly around commas and full stops. Practise building accurate sentences with subordinate clauses, and proofread each sentence for a clear subject, verb, and complete structure.
