Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You give a partly agreeing position and include relevant points about apartment blocks, such as access to services, safety, nearby schools and transport, and the possibility of traffic and parking problems. These show an attempt to address the question. However, the response only partially answers whether tall blocks are the best way to provide enough homes: most of the discussion describes benefits of apartment living, while the drawbacks and alternatives are not clearly explained. The points about neighbours and shared festivals are also not closely connected to housing supply. Develop a smaller number of directly relevant reasons, explain how high-rise construction increases housing capacity, and support your reservations with a clear example. Keep your position consistent from the introduction through the conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has an introduction, separate body paragraphs and a concluding paragraph, so there is some visible organisation. You also attempt linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “however” and “for instance.” However, the progression between ideas is difficult to follow: the discussion moves from facilities and safety to religious festivals, then to transport and parking without clearly showing how each point supports your position. Some connectors are used inaccurately or do not express the relationship between sentences, and references such as “it” and “they” are sometimes unclear. Organise each body paragraph around one main reason, begin with a clear topic sentence, and use linking words only where the logical connection is explicit. This would make the overall argument easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “facilities,” “public transport,” “heavy traffic” and “parking,” and you try to express ideas about safety and community. However, the range is limited and many spelling errors or inaccurate word choices make parts of the response difficult to understand, for example “crowdeed,” “stressfullwrd,” “facilties” and “different waritys.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “helping hand nature” and “the economic is all essienal to incease.” Aim to learn accurate topic vocabulary and common collocations, then check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise expressions such as “housing capacity,” “residential buildings” and “pressure on transport infrastructure” would help you explain the issue more clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including a contrast with “even though” and examples introduced by “for instance.” This shows some effort to vary sentence structure. However, many sentences contain errors in articles, agreement, plurals and sentence construction, which sometimes make the meaning hard to follow. For example, “Some people think building tall apartment block is then best way” needs clearer article use and a complete, accurate structure; “several family live to gether” also has agreement and plural problems. Some sentences run together or have incomplete clauses, as in the final paragraph. Practise writing short, complete sentences first, then combine related ideas using accurate conjunctions. Check subject–verb agreement, articles and punctuation during revision.
