Student answer (Band 5.5)
The statement suggests that it is beneficial to build tall apartment blocks in big cities to provide enough homes. I believe that building high-rise apartment will help to provide sufficient homes in larger cities. There are many advantages of constructing such building blocks.
Primary advantage is that, day by day the population is increasing and because of this more land will be needed to construct homes, and this will result in the deforestation which will create serious problems of global warming. To stop this we can build tall buildings so that many people can live peacefully on the limited piece of land without affecting climate much.
Another benefit is, the homes in the apartment are less expensive than having personal land, also having share facilities can reduce maintainance cost per household. So it is a very viable option for many families.
In addition to that, in big appartments there are facilities like gym, swimming pool, library, play area and near by shops which will be very beneficial to the people living there.
However, the if the construction of high rise building is not done properly and has lack of safety then it might get risky during the time of earthquakes. It also need regular maintainance and strict safety checking.
In conclusion, building complex residence can be beneficial to accomodate more people in limited amount of land and providing amenities and facilities which are helpful for people but with the proper construction and safety checks.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you agree that high-rise housing can provide enough homes, and you give relevant reasons involving limited land, affordability and shared amenities. The safety concern about earthquakes also adds a qualification to your view. However, the ideas are mostly asserted rather than developed with specific explanation or examples; for instance, the claims about preventing deforestation and reducing household costs would be stronger if you explained how these effects occur or gave a relevant example. The conclusion repeats the main benefits but does not fully weigh the concern about safety. The response is also six words below the required minimum, so it does not meet the task’s length requirement. Develop and support each main point more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for advantages, a paragraph on safety, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “Another benefit” and “In addition to that” help readers follow the points. However, the progression is somewhat list-like, with each benefit introduced but not connected or developed in depth. Some linking is mechanical, and the opening of the first body paragraph (“Primary advantage is that, day by day…”) is awkwardly joined. The contrast introduced by “However” is useful, but the conclusion could refer back more clearly to this qualification. To strengthen cohesion, use fewer formulaic transitions and make the relationship between each claim and its explanation explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “high-rise,” “deforestation,” “global warming,” “shared facilities,” and “earthquakes.” This gives you enough range to communicate the main ideas, and some choices are appropriately specific. However, several spelling and word-choice errors reduce accuracy, such as “maintainance,” “appartments,” “accomodate,” and “near by.” There are also imprecise or unnatural phrases, including “personal land,” “building complex residence,” and “without affecting climate much.” Repetition of “beneficial,” “facilities,” and “build” limits flexibility. Work on accurate spelling and natural collocations, and choose more precise terms when describing housing costs, land use and safety.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “if the construction … is not done properly” and a purpose clause beginning “so that many people can live.” The main meaning is generally understandable, but errors in sentence construction and agreement occur. For example, “building high-rise apartment will help” needs a plural or article, while “It also need regular…” has a subject–verb agreement error. The sentence beginning “Primary advantage is that” is also awkwardly structured, and “the if the construction” contains an unnecessary article. Some punctuation around introductory phrases and clauses is inconsistent. Aim for more accurate basic sentence patterns first, then extend them with controlled complex clauses.
