Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is widely believed that building tall apartment blocks can be the best way to provide enough homes in large cities, some propoents agree with this however, I do not agree with this statement. This eassy will discuss my views with proper examples.

To begin with, cities are already densely populated, and day by day it making its postion as one of the most populated and unliveable country. To build tall apartment blocks for the accomodations of citizens is not a feasible solution at all, as it will create more traffic congestion and mostly children will lose their open fields. For example, if too many tall building will create, the town's infrastructure will not be planned in a proper way, the roads and other space will be congested, which leads to heavy traffic. Besides, some category of people will always try to get benefited just to build a tall buidling wherever they can get the open field rather they will not think about children playground. The childhood will be hampered greately.

On the other hand, to many tall buildings will increase the risk of citizens life if any environment occurance happen. For instance, if any earthequake occure people might not get the chance to go any open places. Moreover, congested high building will increase the health risk as well. Besides, in tall apartments so many people will live, thus the sanitaton, waste management could be a challenging to maintain eventually will become over populated.

To conclude, making tall apartment blocks in large cities will not be a sustainable solution, rather other alternative resources should be keep in mind for near better futture for the citizens.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you disagree that tall apartment blocks are the best solution, and you give relevant reasons involving congestion, loss of play space, earthquake risks, and sanitation. These points show a response to the question, but the discussion remains broad and only partly developed. For example, the claim that high-rise construction will cause traffic congestion needs a clearer explanation of how this follows, while the earthquake point would benefit from a specific example or comparison with other housing approaches. The conclusion recommends considering alternatives but does not identify or explain them. To strengthen the response, develop fewer points with concrete support and explain what other ways of providing homes could work. The response meets the stated length requirement; 10 words copied from the task prompt were not counted.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting concerns, and a conclusion. The paragraphs broadly group related ideas, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand,” and “To conclude” help readers follow the direction. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to track. In the first body paragraph, traffic, infrastructure, open fields, and children’s childhood are linked without clearly explaining each connection. The second paragraph moves from earthquake danger to health and waste management, with limited transitions between these points. Some linking phrases, including repeated “Besides,” feel mechanical. Improve cohesion by giving each paragraph a clear central claim, ordering its supporting explanation and example, and using precise references rather than adding points in a list.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “densely populated,” “traffic congestion,” “infrastructure,” “waste management,” and “sustainable solution.” This gives the response enough language to communicate its main concerns. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices, collocations, and spelling errors make parts less clear, such as “unliveable country,” “environment occurance,” and “get benefited.” Repetition of “tall apartment blocks/buildings” and “congested” also limits flexibility. Aim for more precise phrases that fit the intended meaning, such as describing pressure on urban services or the loss of public green space. Proofread spelling carefully and check unfamiliar expressions in context; more accurate, varied vocabulary would make your arguments clearer and more convincing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “as,” “if,” and “which,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some passages difficult to follow. For example, “day by day it making its position” lacks a correctly formed verb, while “if too many tall building will create” has an incorrect conditional structure and agreement. In “the sanitation, waste management could be a challenging to maintain,” the sentence structure and article use are also problematic. Work on forming complete clauses, matching subjects and verbs, and using conditional patterns accurately. Shorter, controlled sentences can help you express each cause and consequence clearly before attempting longer structures.
