Student answer (Band 6.0)
The best way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks. I strongly disagree with this statement. There are a lot of difficulties that people will face due to this idea, which involves environmental, social and economic problems.
Building tall apartment blocks requires a large number of labourers. But the daily wages that is given to then is difficult fr the construction company. So they hire people who work for low wages; this will cause both unemployment and financial instability for the labourers. In addition to this, the environment is destroyed to build tall apartments. For example, a large number of trees are cut down, and a lot of river systems are closed to make space for construction purposes. Due to the higher population, a large number of tall buildings are constructed, which demands deforestation. Alongside this, the cost of a single apartment is too high to afford. So a normal middle-class family struggles to secure a house of their own. So this system will only work for the people who can afford expensive items. It also involves the destruction of livelihood of most of the poor people.
Even though it has a lot of negative impact, there are a few things we can consider it a good idea. Firstly, it will provide a good community and shelter for the people. These apartments have built-in gyms, a shopping mall, parks, and other desirable facilities. It makes a person's daily life easier.
Hence, we can conclude this statement that the demand of tall apartment is increasing but the society needs to consider each person's need and environmental effects.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the opening: “I strongly disagree,” and you give relevant reasons concerning environmental damage, affordability and effects on poorer residents. You also acknowledge advantages, such as shared facilities, so the response addresses both the statement and a counterpoint. However, some ideas are less fully developed than others. For example, the claims about low wages causing unemployment and financial instability are not clearly explained, and the environmental examples would benefit from a more direct link to why tall blocks are not the best solution. The positive point about community facilities is also brief. Develop each main reason with a specific explanation or example, and make your conclusion state more precisely what housing approach you support.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall arrangement: it introduces your disagreement, presents drawbacks, recognises a possible benefit, and ends with a conclusion. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and connectors such as “In addition to this,” “Even though,” and “Hence” guide the reader. At times, however, cohesion is mechanical or the relationship between ideas is unclear. Repeated “So” sentences make the argument feel list-like, while the link between construction wages and unemployment is difficult to follow. The final sentence also shifts from your disagreement to saying demand is increasing without clearly resolving your position. Use fewer repeated transitions, connect each example explicitly to its main claim, and ensure the conclusion follows from the argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “environmental,” “financial instability,” “deforestation,” “livelihood,” and “desirable facilities.” These choices help communicate several relevant aspects of urban housing, and the meaning is generally clear. There are some inaccurate or unnatural choices, however, such as “river systems are closed,” “a good community,” and “destruction of livelihood.” “Daily wages that is given” also contains a word-form choice issue, while “then” appears to be a spelling error for “them.” Aim for more precise collocations and avoid repeating general terms such as “a lot” and “large number.” For instance, describe specific environmental impacts and use wording that accurately expresses the intended effect on workers and residents.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple sentences and more complex forms, including a relative clause in “people who work for low wages” and a concessive opening with “Even though.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur across the response. In “the daily wages that is given,” the verb does not agree with the plural subject; “it is difficult fr the construction company” also has an incomplete or unclear construction. Other examples include “the demand of tall apartment is increasing” and “the society needs to consider each person's need,” where article, number and sentence-pattern choices need attention. Practise checking subject–verb agreement, singular and plural forms, and articles, then proofread each sentence for a complete, natural structure.
