Student answer (Band 5.5)

Taller buildings are the optimal way to give homes to many people.I fully agree with this opinion that high rise buildings are the best possible way to provide enough homes.

first of all, high rise buildings take very less area and people can easily buy and rent them.Taller buildings provide many benefits we can put a lot of people in a very less area. The cost of buying apartments in them is also cheap as compared to single story house that is very expensive. In capital cities houses are very expensive especially for young graduate because the graduate recently cannot afford home so they move toward apartments that are often cheap and easy to rent. For example London and NewYork have a lot of high rise buildings that provide enough space to the people.

Taller buildings can provide a environmental and privacy benefits .To make houses builders often destroy the agriculture land because it is cheap to buy at the outskirts of city whereas taller building covered less space so less agriculture use.Next point is that they also provide privacy because a lot of people do not want to live with their family and they want personal space.

To conclude, taller buildings are less expensive and young generations can easily afford the apartments in them.I believe that taller buildings are best solution to provide many homes .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear from the opening: you fully agree that high-rise buildings can provide homes efficiently. You give relevant reasons, including using less land, lower apartment costs, and offering privacy, and the London and New York example supports the general point. However, the response addresses the task only partially because several claims are asserted rather than explained. For instance, the link between building vertically and protecting agricultural land needs a clearer explanation, and the privacy point is not developed with an example or detail. The response also contains 224 words, below the required 250. Develop each reason with a specific explanation or example, and add a brief qualification about possible drawbacks to make the argument more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The ideas are generally grouped by topic, and signposts such as “first of all,” “next point,” and “to conclude” help the reader follow the main stages. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the first body paragraph moves from land use to affordability and then to young graduates without fully connecting these points. Some linking phrases feel mechanical, and the conclusion largely repeats the introduction rather than drawing the reasons together. Improve cohesion by using clearer links between cause and effect, and by making each paragraph develop one central reason in a logical sequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “high rise buildings,” “agriculture land,” “privacy,” and “apartments.” There are also attempts at more specific phrasing, such as “outskirts of city” and “young graduate.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, which makes parts of the response less natural. For example, “take very less area” and “a very less area” are not idiomatic, while “provide a environmental” has an incorrect word form. Repeated use of “taller buildings” and “cheap” also limits precision. Build a wider set of accurate expressions for density, affordability, and land use, and check collocations when revising.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You communicate your position using mostly simple sentence patterns, with some attempts to combine ideas through clauses, as in “because the graduate recently cannot afford home so they move toward apartments.” This shows an effort to explain reasons, but the sentence structure is faulty and difficult to follow. Errors also occur with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries: “a environmental” and “Taller buildings provide many benefits we can put…” need correction or clearer punctuation. Several sentences run ideas together, and the range of structures remains limited. Practise building accurate complex sentences with one clear main clause and a correctly formed reason or result clause, then check articles and punctuation carefully.
