Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
Your position is clear: you say, “I totally agree,” and give reasons related to services, transport, education and affordability. These points are relevant to city living, but the response does not sufficiently explain why building tall apartment blocks is the best way to provide enough homes. Several benefits, such as schools and internet access, are asserted without showing how high-rise construction creates or improves them. The discussion also gives little attention to the housing-supply issue itself or to possible limitations of this approach. The response is below the required minimum length, which further limits the development and support of your ideas. To strengthen the answer, explain how vertical building accommodates more residents on limited land and develop each reason with a specific, relevant example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The paragraphs group related points, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “Furthermore” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the broad direction. However, progression within the body paragraphs is sometimes list-like: services, transport, work and rent are introduced in quick succession without clear explanation of how each supports the central argument. Some links are also awkward or incomplete, as in “The reason is that there are number of schools,” and the transition from education to network connection feels abrupt. Use topic sentences that directly connect each paragraph to high-rise housing, then explain and exemplify one or two points in a logical sequence. This would make cohesion less mechanical and the argument easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “high-rise buildings,” “public transit,” “academic performance” and “overall wellbeing,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. However, the range is limited by repeated general words such as “benefit,” “services” and “improves,” while several inaccurate word choices or collocations make the writing less natural. For example, “access of facility,” “quality of education.the reason,” and “financial support” do not express the intended ideas precisely; “financial support” appears to mean lower rent or reduced housing costs. Spelling and word-form errors such as “buldings,” “Additionaly” and “conectivity” are also noticeable. Build precision by learning common collocations for housing and urban planning, and proofread spelling and spacing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a reason clause beginning “This is because” and a relative clause in “which improves their academic performance.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles and punctuation sometimes make the reader pause. Examples include “shortage of houses is becoming the significant issue,” “building high-rise buldings are,” and “there are number of schools.” The sentence “This is because, it is convenient … due to numerous branches are nearby” combines structures incorrectly. Several sentences also run together because spaces after full stops are missing. Practise accurate article use, subject–verb agreement and clause construction, and check each sentence for a complete, grammatically consistent structure before adding more complex forms.
