Student answer (Band 5.5)

Certain individuals hold a view that the best way to provide enough home to live is to built tall apartment blocks in large cities. I strongly believe in this given view because it resoantes with the living of people's time and money.

Firstly, apartment blocks provied number of floors and rooms according to an individuals needs. furthermore, like choosing accordingly how convenient the number of floor is for a person if he/she cant walk because of some kind of disability and the apartment buildings also provides lifts which could be reall y convenient for every person. They can also choose how many rooms they want and it can be varied too acording to their well. In additionally, person can also negotiate the cost accordingly to their needs. Another benefit which we should not be overlooked, building tall apartment bloccks only uses the reasonable space which gives environment a space like planting trees, insects to collect nectar from flowers, nests for birds and a walkable path, a small park alongside the bulding for everyone and including their pets too. Parks there can be allowed for the residents and not for someone's personal land. Moreover, people can also change apartment wheneever they want to according to their need and also can save moeny in renovating the house instead of investing money in whole building. People living together also provides a feeling of home and comfortness during any occasion.

To conclude, I believe building tall apartment blocks to provide enough homes in large cities because it supports every individuals money according to their needs and saves a reasonable amount of money and is also practical safe for the environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you strongly support tall apartment blocks, and you give relevant reasons, including flexible housing choices, shared green space, and avoiding the cost of maintaining an entire house. These points address the question, but they are not all developed equally. For example, the claim that residents can choose the number of floors or negotiate costs needs clarification, since these options may depend on the building and housing market. The environmental point includes useful examples such as trees, bird nests, and a park, but the link between high-rise construction and preserving that space could be explained more fully. Develop each main reason with a specific explanation or example to make the argument more convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an opening position, a body paragraph of supporting reasons, and a conclusion that restates your view. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Moreover,” and “To conclude” help signal the direction of the argument. However, the body paragraph contains many different points in one long sequence, so the progression is difficult to follow and some connections feel abrupt. For instance, the discussion moves from lifts and room choices to parks, moving apartments, and social comfort without grouping these ideas. Organise related reasons into separate paragraphs and use clear topic sentences; this would make the argument easier to track and reduce reliance on a list of linking expressions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt vocabulary relevant to housing and urban life, including “apartment blocks,” “disability,” “renovating,” and “residents,” and your meaning is generally recoverable. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors make parts less clear, such as “provied,” “resonates with the living of people's time and money,” and “comfortness.” Some phrases are also imprecise: “reasonable space” does not clearly express the idea of using land efficiently, while “a walkable path” is not naturally connected to the surrounding sentence. Aim for accurate, natural combinations and check spelling carefully. More precise terms for housing affordability, land use, and communal facilities would help express your ideas effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a conditional idea about residents who cannot walk and a sentence beginning “Another benefit which we should not be overlooked.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and punctuation sometimes make the reader work to understand the point. For example, “the apartment buildings also provides lifts” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “building tall apartment blocks to provide enough homes in large cities because it supports…” is an incomplete construction in the conclusion. The long sentence beginning “Firstly” also joins several ideas without clear grammatical boundaries. Practise building complete sentences with one main point each, then check agreement and punctuation.
