Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is argued that, the better way to provide sufficient housing in major cities is to build high rise apartment building. I completely agree with this statement because to my way of thinking i believe that, it may help people to live a fresh area.

There are a number of reasons why i believe that, nowadays most of the major cities are over crowed just because of over populations and the main reasons is people live this area for better lifestyles. For this reasons, housing system may increased a lot because people need a healthy life. So if government should take a necessary steps to build tall apartment blocks then a large number of population can live a limited place. This is because large cities face a lack of available land. For example tokyo the capital of Japan there are a huge number of population for this reasons government made high building to over come those problems.

In addition. build tall apartment blocks can reducing housing shortage. since, nowadays most of the cities face a housing issue because over population and shortage of housing. So if high apartment blocks build then many people live a peaceful life and easily reducing there problems. For instance, dhaka the capital of Bangladesh, in those city a large number of people live in and they face housing crisis for these reasons nowadays a lot of tall house build to over come this problems.

In conclusion, The better way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks because it may help people to overcome their problem . I strongly agree with this statements.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you completely agree that tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide housing, and you give relevant examples from Tokyo and Dhaka. The response addresses the central question, but the reasons are only partly developed. For instance, you mention limited land and housing shortages, yet do not explain in detail how high-rise construction would provide enough suitable homes or why it is preferable to other approaches. The examples name cities but offer little specific support beyond saying that tall buildings have been built. The opening claim that this may help people live in a “fresh area” is also unclear. To strengthen the response, explain each reason more fully and connect the examples directly to your argument. The length requirement is met; 14 words copied from the task prompt were not counted.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the ideas generally relate to the topic. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow, and linking expressions are repetitive or awkward. For example, “For this reasons” and repeated uses of “So if” and “For instance” do not always show the relationship between claims clearly. The second body paragraph begins “In addition” but largely repeats the housing-shortage point rather than adding a distinct reason. Some references, such as “those problems” and “this problems,” are unclear. Organise each paragraph around one distinct reason, then use more precise links and references to show how the example supports it.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “housing shortage,” “available land,” “population” and “apartment blocks,” so the reader can identify your main subject. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repeated, particularly references to overpopulation and housing problems. There are also noticeable word-choice, collocation and spelling errors, such as “over crowed,” “over come,” “high apartment blocks build” and “a fresh area.” These sometimes make the intended meaning less clear. Aim to use more precise expressions for urban growth and housing policy, and check spelling and natural word combinations. For example, describe cities as “densely populated” and explain that high-rise development can “accommodate more residents on limited land.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “if government should take a necessary steps” and clauses explaining causes. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence boundaries occur frequently. Examples include “housing system may increased,” “build tall apartment blocks can reducing,” and “many people live a limited place.” Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in “In addition.” followed by a lower-case sentence. These errors can make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Practise forming accurate conditionals and checking subject–verb agreement and verb patterns; for example, use “building tall apartment blocks can reduce the shortage” and “many people can live in a limited area.”
