Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You present a partly agreeing position and include reasons on both sides, so the response is relevant to the question. However, the position is not consistently clear: the introduction says you partly agree, while the conclusion says building large apartments is “not appropriate.” More importantly, much of the support concerns the general advantages of urban living—schools, hospitals and employment—rather than explaining why tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide homes. The drawbacks of crowding, traffic and crime are relevant, but they are listed more than explained, and the Bangladesh example is not clearly linked to apartment construction. Develop a direct comparison with alternatives, such as low-rise housing, and explain how each example supports your view.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph presenting benefits, a contrasting paragraph on drawbacks, and a conclusion. “On the other hand” signals the change in viewpoint, and examples are placed within the relevant paragraphs. However, progression within paragraphs is often difficult to follow because several claims are joined without clear relationships. For example, the discussion moves from facilities to literacy, healthcare, employment and company profits in quick succession. Linking phrases such as “As a result” are repeated, sometimes where the cause-and-effect connection is unclear. Improve cohesion by giving each paragraph one central point, ordering its explanation and example logically, and using clear references to connect ideas rather than relying on repeated transitions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt vocabulary relevant to housing and city life, including “overpopulation,” “job opportunities,” “health care” and “national economic.” This shows some ability to discuss the topic, but the usable range is limited and errors in spelling, word form and collocation are noticeable. Examples include “appartments,” “convient,” “litaracy,” “employement” and “traffic jum”; these can make the reader pause or infer the intended meaning. Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “skills full employee” and “large profits in the national economics.” Build accuracy with common topic collocations and check spelling and word forms. Prefer precise expressions such as “skilled employees,” “the national economy” and “traffic congestion” over approximate combinations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use both simple statements and attempts at complex sentences, including clauses beginning “because,” “which” and “although.” However, the range is limited, and complex sentences are often faulty, so the reader must work to understand some relationships. For example, “It often argue” lacks subject–verb agreement, while “urban area have large number of facilities” has agreement and article problems. The sentence beginning “On possible reasons is that people get modern facilities live in urban area” is also structurally incomplete. Articles, plurals and verb forms are inconsistent throughout, and punctuation does not always separate ideas clearly. Practise building accurate sentences around one main clause, then add a correctly formed subordinate clause; check agreement and articles during revision.
