Student answer (Band 5.0)

The improved way to facilitate enough homes to citizens in urban areas is to build tall apartment blocks. I strongly belive that, builing tall apartment blocks will provide enough homes to people living in large cities. Beside providing enough homes, it will also stop the fresh air and raise the suffocation for the people living in one building.

Commencing with, the building tall apartment to facilitate enough homes for citizens in urban areas. As many people live away from their families in villages because they are unable to find land in urban areas to live with their family, if the tall builiding will be provided, the family members which are living away from their families will be able to buy a homes in urban areas to spent time with their families. For instance, i have many relatives living in rural areas and we meet with them once a year because we live far away from them in Karachi, if they build tall apartment blocks then the relatives living in villages can be able to purchase a home near their family.

Secondly, By building tall apartment blocks the suffocation and fresh air concern will be raised, as people will unable to breate fresh air and feel suffocated by living at a crowded apartments. For example, In Karachi, there are alot of tall apartment blocks but we are unable to breate fresh air because these apartments are blocking the flow of fresh air and people living there are feeling suffocated.

In conclusion, I would suggest that authorities should provide enough homes in urban areas by building tall apartment blocks, so that people can live around their families happily.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

Your position is clear: you support tall apartment blocks as a way to provide homes, and you also identify a drawback involving fresh air and crowding. The family example from Karachi gives the response a relevant personal connection. However, the argument is only partly developed. The first body paragraph explains how relatives might live closer together, but it does not fully show how apartment construction would increase the overall housing supply or why it is the best approach. The second paragraph raises a relevant concern, yet the conclusion still recommends this solution without addressing that concern or qualifying your position. Develop each reason with clearer explanation and make your final judgement consistent with the drawbacks you discuss.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the ideas are generally grouped by topic. Linking expressions such as “Secondly” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the essay. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear or repetitive. “Commencing with” is followed by a sentence fragment, and the first paragraph moves from housing shortages to family separation without clearly connecting the two. The second paragraph also repeats the idea of suffocation and blocked fresh air. Use topic sentences that state each main point, then explain and illustrate it in a clear sequence. More precise referencing and fewer formulaic transitions would make the organisation easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “urban areas,” “apartment blocks,” “rural areas” and “fresh air,” so the main ideas can be understood. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive. For example, “facilitate enough homes” is not a natural way to describe increasing housing supply, while “raise the suffocation” does not express the intended concern clearly. Spelling errors such as “belive,” “builiding” and “breate” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise set of housing and environmental terms, and check spelling carefully. Replacing repeated phrases with accurate alternatives will help express your argument more clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some complex sentences, particularly when explaining the effect of housing on families, and the reader can usually identify your main meaning. However, the range of structures is limited, and errors occur frequently, especially in longer sentences. For example, “As many people live away from their families …, if the tall builiding will be provided” combines clauses awkwardly and uses an unsuitable conditional form. Other examples include “the building tall apartment” and “people will unable to,” where sentence structure or verb forms are incomplete. Articles, plurals and agreement also need attention, as in “a homes” and “a crowded apartments.” Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them using controlled subordinate clauses.
