Student answer (Band 5.5)

To certain extent, I agree that constructing high rise building can give postive development in the mega cities to control the population with providing sufficient home facility, but i also believe that bulding tall apartment in particular cities can affect on other devlopments.

On the one hand, tall apartments can give many advantages to the socity and government, firstly building high rise apartments might fullfill house requirment of the people working in the city or near the city. Also, apartment occupied less space and are more cheaper compare to the house. Second major advantage is that the government can provide basic emeniies to the public easly like water supply, electricity, gradens and public transport and lead to this people living in the cities can easily travel to work place without any hustle. For instance, Gift city in Gandhinagar are buliding high rise bulidings and apartments for public who works their or open any kind of bussiness in city, to provide good, peacefull and hustle free life.

On the other hand, constructing highe-rise buliding can also give negative effects on the other areas, intially promoting one city by making tall buliding in a particular city can increase the economy, but other area remain undeveloped because most of the people get into the cities for better work opportunitoes and career growth. This can lead to, increse the pressure on the goverment by using more fund on a particular city and need to be developed timely to increase the residenstial area for people.

To sum up, I believe that it is neccessary to bulid high rise building in a city to contol the groeth of population by providing apartments, but it gives pressue on government to handle city basic requirment and other area become undevelop.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you agree that tall apartments can help provide homes, while recognising possible disadvantages. You address both sides and give relevant reasons, including efficient land use, access to services and the risk of concentrating investment in one city. The Gift City example also helps make the first argument more concrete. However, some points are less fully explained than others. For example, you say that other areas may remain undeveloped, but do not show clearly how building apartments causes this or explain what alternative housing approaches might achieve. The conclusion restates your view but could weigh the benefits against the drawbacks more directly. Develop each main claim with a clearer explanation or example to make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs signalled by “On the one hand” and “On the other hand,” and a conclusion. Ideas generally progress from the benefits of apartment blocks to their possible wider effects, and examples are placed in the relevant paragraph. This clear structure is a strength. Cohesion is not always smooth, however. The first body paragraph packs several points into one long sequence, and transitions such as “Second major advantage” feel mechanical beside “firstly.” The phrase “This can lead to” also introduces a sentence whose connection to the preceding point is not fully clear. Use more varied linking and divide related claims into clearer steps; make references explicit so readers can follow cause and effect.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt vocabulary relevant to urban development, including “high rise,” “basic amenities,” “residential area,” “economy” and “career growth.” These choices show an effort to discuss the topic beyond very basic terms. However, the range is limited by repeated wording such as “city,” “building” and “people,” while several spelling and word-choice errors make the writing less precise: “socity,” “emeniies,” “hustle free” and “house requirment.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “provide sufficient home facility” and “apartment occupied less space.” Aim for accurate topic-specific collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise alternatives for housing supply, urban services and regional development would help express your ideas clearly and flexibly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use both simple statements and attempts at longer, complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “but,” “because” and “who.” This gives the response some structural variety, and the main message is generally understandable. However, complex sentences are often not controlled successfully, and errors recur in articles, agreement, verb forms and sentence construction. For example, “apartment occupied less space” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “Gift city in Gandhinagar are buliding” does not maintain agreement between the subject and verb. The opening sentence also combines several ideas without a secure grammatical structure. Practise building accurate sentences around one main clause, then add subordinate clauses; check articles, singular/plural forms and punctuation during revision.
