Student answer (Band 6.0)
Housing is one the basic rights as a citizen of a country. The growing population has led to overcrowding of cities along with a housing a crisis. Historically, it is a consistent trend that people from all over the country tend to move to large cities in order to get better paying opportunities. It is also done to experience different experience and environment. However, the overcrowding situation in cities is challenging for both, the city council and the people who move to the city with inadequate living conditions.
In order to address this challenge, particularly in cities where access to large land is limited or unavailable, tall apartment blocks can be built by utilizing the smaller ground area. The greater the number of apartment, the more people can have access to proper housing and better living conditions.
Also, the young population that is interested in living in a large city enjoy living in tall skyscrapper as compared to the earlier generation that prefered to have a house on ground. However, building skyscrapper can also lead to another challenge of not having enough green spaces, turning cities into concrete jungles. It is essential that while approving such projects, a great emphasis should be put into addressing sustainbility and green living.Making enough houses is not the only solution as they also should be development in a way that they should be liveable. Access to adequate green spaces, parks and other green practices can make living in cities and provide better health conditions for living there.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your response addresses the question and presents a generally clear position: tall apartment blocks can help meet housing demand, but their development should protect green space and liveability. The points about limited land and accommodating more residents are relevant, and the concern about concrete-heavy cities adds a useful qualification. However, some ideas are less fully developed than others. For example, the claim that young people prefer skyscrapers to ground-level houses is asserted without explaining why or giving a supporting example. The discussion also focuses mainly on benefits and environmental drawbacks, with little consideration of other limitations of high-rise housing. Develop each main point with a specific explanation or example to make your argument more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a coherent overall arrangement: it introduces urban housing pressure, explains the space-saving case for apartment blocks, and then considers environmental concerns. Linking expressions such as “However” and “Also” help signal shifts, and the final point returns to the importance of liveable development. This meets the lower-band expectations and shows some features of stronger progression. However, the second paragraph is brief, while the final paragraph combines several ideas—young people’s preferences, loss of green space, sustainability, and health—without clear separation. Some connections are also difficult to follow, particularly the transition from housing provision to the claim about young residents. Use more deliberate paragraphing and make the relationship between each claim and its supporting explanation explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “overcrowding,” “inadequate living conditions,” “green spaces,” and “sustainability,” which makes the subject clear. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “concrete jungles” and “utilizing the smaller ground area.” However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “a housing a crisis,” “different experience and environment,” and “the greater the number of apartment.” Spelling errors such as “skyscrapper,” “prefered,” and “sustainbility” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more natural combinations and check spelling carefully; precise phrasing will help your ideas sound more fluent and convincing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional-style construction in “In order to address this challenge…” and a comparative structure in “The greater the number…”. Most of the meaning remains clear, and the response attempts to connect clauses rather than relying only on short sentences. Some grammatical errors persist, however. Examples include “Housing is one the basic rights” (missing article or preposition), “the young population … enjoy” (agreement), and “they also should be development” (incorrect verb form). The sentence beginning “Access to adequate green spaces…” is also incomplete or awkwardly joined to the following idea. Review articles, subject–verb agreement, and sentence boundaries, then proofread complex sentences to ensure each has a complete and correctly formed clause.
