Student answer (Band 4.5)
It is often argued that high rise apartment building should be built in bigger cities to provide homes to millions. I strongly agree with this view because bigger cities bring many opportunities to people. If we build taller apartments many people will reside in city for greater opportunities.
One of the main reasons i support this view is that modern cities tend to have better lifestyle. The larger cities fullflied dreams of millions. People get a opportunity to live a life they havent lived yet. They get to experience modersty. Bigger cities helps people to earn money to support their families. If construction of high rise apartment building happens, it will increase the job opportunities plus it will help struggling families. For instance, we lived in 1bhk flat we lived 4 peoples already and my mama wanted to come to mumbai for a job he wasnt able to find a good apartment here in mumbai, it was either costly or was not located in good place. later our society went underconstruction our rooms got bigger from 1bhk to 2.5 bhk. At that time we were only living 3 members for us space was spacious, there were extra rooms which helped my mama to stay in our house for till he get a stable job.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that university education should be provided free of charge, as it promotes equal opportunities and allows students from different financial backgrounds to pursue higher education.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You state a clear position in the opening—“I strongly agree”—and give a personal example about your family’s flat being expanded, which is relevant to housing capacity. However, the response only minimally addresses the actual question: it focuses largely on the opportunities and lifestyle of big cities rather than explaining why tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide enough homes. The example also describes a larger home helping one relative, but does not clearly show how high-rise construction supplies housing at city scale. Most importantly, the conclusion suddenly discusses free university education, an unrelated topic that contradicts the essay’s focus. The response is also below the required 250 words. Develop reasons specifically about vertical housing and end with a conclusion that restates your position on the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic overall shape: an introduction, a body paragraph with a reason and example, and a conclusion. The example gives the body some development, and phrases such as “One of the main reasons” and “For instance” signal the intended relationship between ideas. However, progression is difficult to follow because several claims about lifestyle, dreams, jobs and housing are placed together without clear links. The long personal example is crowded into one sentence, making its sequence hard to track. The conclusion about university education breaks the connection with everything before it. Use separate, focused paragraphs, divide the example into shorter sentences, and use clear links to show how each point supports the argument about tall apartment blocks.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “high rise apartment building,” “construction,” “job opportunities” and “stable job,” so the reader can generally identify the subject. However, the range is limited and several choices or forms are inaccurate or unclear, such as “fullflied dreams,” “modersty,” “bigger cities helps” and “good place.” Repetition of “bigger cities,” “people” and “opportunities” also limits precision. Some spelling errors make the intended meaning harder to recover, particularly “fullflied” and “modersty.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and more precise housing vocabulary, such as “high-rise apartment blocks,” “increase housing capacity” and “affordable accommodation.” Proofread spelling and avoid repeating the same general terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including a conditional structure in “If we build taller apartments…” and a reason clause beginning “because.” However, the range remains limited, and errors are frequent enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. Examples include “Bigger cities helps,” “a opportunity,” “we lived 4 peoples,” and “for till he get,” which show problems with subject–verb agreement, articles, plural forms and verb forms. The extended sentence beginning “For instance” also joins many ideas without effective sentence boundaries, while “i” is not capitalised. Practise building accurate short sentences first, then combine related ideas using controlled clauses. Check agreement, articles, tense consistency and punctuation during revision.
