Student answer (Band 5.5)
These days the cities have become crowded due to industrialization and the land for housing is continuously diminished. Many people dont have enough space to build an accomodation. What can be the most effective method of dealing with this urbanization and what can be done to fullfill the needs of safe hosuing for public. Some people believe that building the sky-high apartments is the best way to provide housing for masses in big cities. I completely agree with this view and in this essay I am going to support my opinion with examples.
Firstly, living in big and developed cities is the dream of many people. As cities provide best life fcailities,
for instance, the schools, offices, hospitals, resturants, shoping malls and theaters etc., there needs to be an effective network of roads which could enable us to approach each of these faciliteis in no time. Constructing roads require a lot of area which is utilized thus leaving not enough space for making houses available to everyone.
Another reason that I agree wth this opinion is that building high towers can accomodate a large number of families in one palce. At one hand it will save the land for other industries to establish while on the other hand it will develop a sense of community and belongingness in the people sharing the same territory.
On the other hand, if we provide enough space for each family to build a house, then the land for industy, recreation and agriculture will be reduced. As a result, there will be no food, no developments and less recereation and a lot of land will be of no use.
coming towards the conclusion, although it is a common belief that everyone should own a house but I believe that if the same house in owned in a large building where many other are also living, then it would be more beneficial.
I personally think that, providing homes in a large building is the good idea for living in the big cities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you completely agree that tall apartment buildings are an effective way to house people in large cities. You give relevant reasons, including preserving land for other uses and accommodating many families in one place, and you acknowledge the alternative of individual houses. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For example, the claim that high towers create “a sense of community” would be stronger with a concrete explanation or example. The paragraph about roads and city facilities is relevant to urban land use, but its connection to apartment blocks could be made more explicit. Develop each main reason with a specific example and explain how it supports your view.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, supporting paragraphs, a counterpoint and a conclusion. The progression from urban crowding to the benefits of high-rise housing is generally understandable. However, links between some ideas are not fully clear: the discussion of roads and facilities does not directly show why apartment blocks are the best solution, and the paragraph beginning “On the other hand” introduces a related point without clearly presenting it as a counterargument. Connect each paragraph more explicitly to your central claim. Some linking phrases, such as “Firstly,” “Another reason,” and “coming towards the conclusion,” feel formulaic; use a wider range of natural transitions and ensure paragraph openings signal the precise relationship between ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “industrialization,” “accommodate,” “recreation,” and “agriculture,” and the main meaning is usually clear. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which makes parts of the response less natural. Examples include “provide best life facilities,” “approach each of these facilities in no time,” and “the land for housing is continuously diminished.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “accomodation,” “resturants,” and “faciliteis.” These issues fit a level where vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the basic argument but control is inconsistent. Build precision by learning common collocations for urban planning and checking spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “if we provide enough space for each family…,” and most of the argument remains understandable. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, particularly in articles, agreement, sentence construction and punctuation. For example, “cities provide best life facilities” needs an article, while “the same house in owned” has an incorrect verb form. The opening questions are awkwardly formed and do not clearly function as questions in the paragraph. There are also comma and capitalisation problems, including the lowercase “coming” after a paragraph break. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, correct articles, and accurate punctuation, while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
